-A&M set BOR meeting to approve SEC for Aug22
-Some Texas Higher Education committee set Aug16 hearing to discuss A&M/SEC and potentially block it
-SEC Presidents supposed to meet this weekend to vote on A&M
-Aggies call audible and move BOR meeting to Monday, in advance of legislative committee, likely meaning that A&M and the SEC will be an official done deal on Monday afternoon
The Higher Ed Committee could still block the move even after it was announced. However, announcing before the committee can meet puts the members of the committee in a politically strained situation. If they block an aTm move before any announcement, all of the blame is diverted to many officials, but if an announcement is made beforehand, everyone will know the individuals by name who blocked the move and the wrath of Aggie supporters will be upon them. Other than in a few areas near Lubbock and Waco, there will be enough Aggies in any area of Texas to make a legislator think twice about putting his name on a proposition to block a move.

This just popped up on my twitter feed.

I just looked it up. We have played Texas A&M more than we have played any SEC team. We've played them 67 times in history. The team we've played second most is Ole Miss.
We've played a few other former SWC teams more than A&M, and we've played Texas the most.
In ten more years, if we only play Texas one more time, we will have played Texas A&M more than any other team in our history.
Some of my earliest memories of attending college football games is of Texas Aggie/Arkansas games in Fayetteville. I remember a few in particular.
I don't really want any new teams, but if A&M comes, I already have my hate on.
We won't even have to change our schedule.

What will the addition of another school do to the SEC TV contracts? Will each member share be diluted due to another member?

One word. Renegotiation.

Wasn't there some kind of caveat in the last contract that any expansion would spur contract re-negotiation? Maybe I just read that on the rant.

That's what the Ags believe, renegotiations. Think of Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth markets and officially all of East Texas coming into your fold. Those are some serious tv sets. Being in Raleigh right now, I look forward to making a few trips out y'alls way.

Alabama is 4-1 against the Aggies. The lone loss coming in the 1967 Cotton Bowl. Gene Stallings was the head coach for A&M at the time.

SEC TV contracts
The SEC will renogotiate the TV contracts upon expansion. Right now everyone's getting about $17.5 mil. At minimum, the bump will be up to around $20 mil per team, if not more. There are some rumors that have the contracts getting a 100% increase up to $34mil per team, but I'm not sure I buy that just yet.

I'm hearing the same rumors on the $34 million. I think that may be low. Adding 2 top 10 markets more than doubles the number of TVs. I would think $34 mil at a minimum.

So the last rumor is UNC jumping to the SEC...

Both fairly equal. Just depends on who you're asking.
