These guys are bred differently. Their egos are driven by a hunger to be successful. No coach wants their last stop to be a failure.
The cash is simply a status symbol. These guys don't have a minute in the day to spend it when they are coaching, so a guy who is under 50, who has gone from the top of everyone's HC wish list to "analyst" for the Chicago Bears (which is another dumpster fire, much like UT), and who very likely wants to be considered for a top job again simply has to take a job like this one to get back. We may only have him for 1-2 years, but that's better than getting people nobody want and having to fire them every year.
