It's easy to hire a good coach, we just might not end up with some of these coaches listed that some of our insatiable fans want

^^ This. It's also not easy to compete in recruiting and games against the competition of the SEC and mainly SECW these days. Saban, Petrino, Mullin, ect are much better than the days of Croom, Ogeron, and Shula.

Most on here don't remember that the coach before Saban was Dinardo...who came from Vanderbilt. LSU has come along way since then.

hires like this are due to either extenuating circumstances or extreme frickups by individuals in positions of power. if a search is done correctly there is no reason lsu shouldn't be able to land a good hc equal or better than lord miles.

I'm not talking about LSU hiring guys like this. I'm saying it's a much more difficult time to win in the SEC than back in the early 2000s when those were the coaches you went up against.

TCU has a sports budget nearly 21 million last year. If they were in the Big 12, only Texas has a bigger budget. TCU athletic budget is more than Oklahoma and Nebraska.

TCU just started 100 million dollar renovations on their football stadium that will, when complete, make it a facility second to none.

TCU has very rich oil money boosters. The one coach LSU will not be able to get is TCU's. Most likely he sits at TCU until the Texas job opens up and he takes that.

. Other than replacing Saban when has LSU ever hired a coach when they have been on top.

Bill Arnsparger. Left after a SEC championship and the cupboard was full. The subsequent hires led to the program wandering in the wilderness for a decade.

I know. How will we ever replace the genius that is Coach Les Miles?

You people just don't get it. Our wishes don't matter or have any effect on this process. If Les leaves it is cause he wants to. LSU has been very generous to Miles. If Les does not want to be the coach at LSU then you have to get over it Draconian. He left cause he wanted to. It would be time for us to move on.

Yes it would be time to move on but

It sure would suck for us. Texas may have a better shot at moffit, Fla at Wilson and that would suck

losing miles would be terrible. If he goes then crowton and stud are out (not all bad). oregon is on the phone now with wilson "come to USC" if I were wilson i would take freak, landry and whoever I could with me.

Bash on something other than recruiting. You don't understand the process, and have no idea how to evaluate talent. Oh, and do some research on loss vs lost.

Yeah..Miles leaves...the football program goes under. Then we have Trent Johnson who can't do shite. Then Manieri's baseball team will probably be good for losing 8 out of 11 games to close the season. Why don't we all go watch Swimming and diving competitions at LSU ? Won't have anything to get excited about anymore.

There is no way that a budget of $21 million is more than OU and Nebraska. UF and UT both spent over $100 million last year on sports, I am sure those two schools spent similar money.

I think LSU would go out and find the right person, it is such a great situation. I actually came over to this board because I heard a rumor that Fisher was interested in the LSU job if it came open, and was wondering if anyone heard similar. I would love to see the collective look on Noles faces if he left them after one year as HC.

I don't want Miles to leave. HELL NO! All this talk about getting someone else is foolish.

Look at Notre Dame. Or a school like Michigan. These are big time programs, programs that think to themselves, "We're too damn good to lose, we have nothing to worry about." ND hasn't been the same since losing Holtz and UM has gone down the toilet since letting Carr go. That can be LSU. Just like that all the winning, the recruits, the championships can melt away.

Be careful what you wish for. Sure he's erratic with clock management, but with Miles you have 3 guarantees 1) good recruiting 2) clean program and 3)an entire team that truly enjoys being around each other.

Imagine if Les Miles had the thinking of someone like Urban Meyer. Miles would never have let Perrilloux go and LSU football never would of slipped. But Miles let Perrilloux go (right choice) and his program suffered for 2 years because of it.

LSU might go 11-2 without a real QB. That's incredible. Look at the big picture. Take a step back. I like our coach. He might be crazy, but he's our crazy coach.

I think LSU 'sniffed' ATL this year. I don't get your point.

quote from Oklahoman: Believe this or not, but according to the Equity in Athletics Data Analysis Cutting Tool, TCU's football budget this season was $20.6 million. That's more than any Big 12 school except Texas. More than Oklahoma. More than Oklahoma State. More than Texas A&M. More than Nebraska.

Someday Miles is going to leave, even if it's in a pine box. Nothing lasts forever.

LSU should always be ready to hire another coach. Always.

Just read that article, it just seems off. UF spent $70 million on football alone last year, OU spending less that $20 million is pretty embarrassing on their part. I would assume LSU has a similar football budget.

I think any major SEC school could more than exceed anything TCU would offer. Some have mentioned Patterson is quite strange and does not interview well which has held him back from getting bigger jobs.
