I am not a sane LSU fan.
Problem is, my passion has been curtailed every time we lay a fricking turd. So I tend to not get my hopes up. I used to EXPECT to win, would be pissed as hell when we wouldn't. No I just hope we don't LOSE. I am no longer disappointed.
There is no rhyme or reason to how our games/seasons play out. skull drag aTm, lose to ole miss.
I mean, it's tiring. Usually I watch a quarter or two, but when miles just can't put the team away or can't tackle, I tend to watch something more entertaining.
So I am sane now. Mediocrity brought me here

And Alabama boosters are not savvy businessmen? Saban at Texas potentially increases their revenue, re-energizes their fan base and, in turn, increases donations. Those things already happened at Alabama (when they hired Saban from Miami). They aren't going to see huge leaps of revenue increases, nor are they going to see donations increase relative to the size of the contract.
So put a price tag on it: 8MM, 10MM, 12MM whatever dumb numbers get thrown around out there, and tell me which university would be paying that to get a return, and which university would be paying that to get exactly what they already have.
That said, I think he is probably staying at Alabama, but not for as much money as is being advertised.

That being said, I've always been a "sane" Alabama fan. I've always been of the opinion that if I'm getting too worked up about something, I should probably try putting it into perspective.
As far as that goes, I do feel for you. I've always said -- and still maintain -- that LSU has been my second-favorite team since I was a kid. (I have my reasons, but it's a whole story) I was honestly pulling for y'all in those games.

Seriously though, that's what this whole thing boils down to. "Can we get who we want without spending too much money?" vs. "What would it take to keep our guy, and is it fiscally responsible to go there?"
Because honestly, once you're OT ballin' like that, money becomes an awful big part of your world. Bigger than football, even.

Well thank you and that is what I wish others would see as well. There are big time nuts and jerks in EVERY substantial fan base. So many people, for example, want to lable Alabama fans "Updykes" and such for the actions of ONE loon with issues or even a few. Problem is by doing that, any fan base is one loon away from being broad brushed when we go there.
Personally, I have grown to enjoy many LSU posters here and most are reasonable and I don't hold it against those who are when others aren't.
