re: I was told today that there is a 30% chance Mack stays for one more year...

The contract extension he would get after the Texas offer would be greater than the extension he would receive before the offer.
And with that, the possiblity exists that Texas may throw out a number that Bama balks on. That possiblity is out there, is all I'm saying.
Another possibility is that Saban still leaves even if the money is close. To deny that these are possibilities is to bury your head in the sand.

Saban could surpass Bear Bryant and become the undisputed GOAT, even in the eyes of Alabama fans.
How's that for a legacy? No figure loomed larger over a fanbase than the Bear and Alabama. And he could surpass it.
Let me know when someone surpasses the myth of Lombardi at Green Bay, Wooden at UCLA, or Paterno at Penn State.

If Saban was so solid to Bama, he would've signed the contract extension
The flaw in this logic is mind numbing

I don't disagree, but I feel that making an offer that Bama could not match would not be a very smart move on Texas' part.

Yeah, but nobody questions that Meyer will at least match that. He's not even 50, yet.
And with the ticker of a 90-year-old man whose family he doesn't spend nearly enough time with.

I highly doubt this. I think Mack being forced out is dependant on Saban coming otherwise they keep Brown on as coach.
That's fact. A formal offer is one that the BOR's get a chance to see. He "Saban" has seen a offer. Formal is for the Clinton Dictionary.

So you're saying he might take even less money to go to a better place in Austin.
Nice.

quote:What do you mean "so solid"? I give two shits about Saban's feelings towards us, other than I know he generally likes it here.
If Saban was so solid to Bama, he would've signed the contract extension. Texas shouldn't have even come into the picture. There's nothing Bama fans can say that can dispute that.

What if they offered him 25-30 million a year and he came there and fell flat on his face?

Yeah, that's why so many LSU fans are on this board salivating and going through bottles and bottles of Jergens at the prospect of saban leaving.

The only flaw is I see is that Bama folks thinking that Nick Saban is solid to Bama. It's not congruent with his actions, or lack of action in this case.
When I read "no way he leaves" and similar comments, it reads as fans not acknowledging the possibility of him leaving. Maybe I'm misunderstanding this or something.

Genro, Saban will never pass Bear Bryant in number of SEC Titles won. Saban has 4 (including the two at LSU). How many does the bear have?
Not sure if Saban will pass Spurrier.
Saban still has work to in sec to be considered GOAT

Didn't Bryant have like 20 sec titles or some shite?
NO WAY Saban even sniffs that. Sorry

Why in the hell would a university hire or fire a president based solely on football ?
Wow, speaking of priorities being out of whack.
Info is 100 % true, I have no doubt, but it doesn't make sense, Texas truly is a dumpster fire.
