Forget about his personality, stealing Kelly from ND would be significant

Imagine LSU stealing the coach from perhaps the most storied program in all of football, one of the most significant brands in all of American sports.

This would have been laughed at 20 years ago not even a pipe dream. It would have been looked at as a huge step down.

If it were to happen, you’d have to be impressed with Woody being able to pull it off.

I think Kelly would be an outstanding hire.

But he would be a really poor culture fit.

As much as I don't want Kelly since I prefer other candidates, he also did a heck of a job at Cincinnati and really made them into the program that Fickell leads today.

Does Freeman come too? Or is he the next ND head man?

Bad fit. Bad choice for us if we're trying to take the reigns back from Bama.

Kelly is an a-hole who doesn't put up with BS from his players.

That's actually exactly what this program needs after 17 years of nice morons running the place.

These mystery injuries/suspensions would go away. You don't do that shite when Kelly is your coach.

He's very much a Saban type personality. LSU would go back to having an edge, and we'd see some overachievement.

But there would be a lot of fans who would want to jump on him and call him a bum the first time he loses a game, because he isn't a sunny, charismatic personality.

If Woodward went with Kelly, it would be all about shaking up the culture in the football building and giving it a Saban-style reset.

Would it be stealing if ND goes and gets a better coach?

I thought Kelly would be the Woodard hire from when Orgeron announced but this conflicts with the info I've been told. Interesting and good hire if it pans out.

This is literally the only good take I have read on here. Kudos. I think Kelly could do some serious damage reshaping LSU’s culture and im not even a tigah baw

Can you imagine Kelly trying to work the local Louisiana schools lol. Saban gets away with being an arse, but he has the championships to back it up. Kelly ain’t got that.

Above average may be the wrong word but he has won nothing of significance in his 11 years at Notre Dame despite having no conference game to worry about and having a big national brand. He went to a MNC once and a playoff game twice. He got boat raced in all of those matchups.

His hiring wouldn't be the end of the world but I wouldn't be thrilled about it.
