Looks like they are doing a series of videos explaining the world of WoT without spoilers.
Here’s the first from Rosamund Pike explaining Aes Sedai

Pike has lyrical voice and can deliver lines in this regal and majestic manner. I can't wait to hear her deliver the story about the fall of Manetheren.

They are doing a big event at a convention in London today where they have aired a bunch of scenes apparently.

I kind of like this, I hope this may curtail some of the massive exposition dumps necessary at the start of these kind of adaptations.
Just watched dune and they were extremely heavy on it in the beginning where it was kind of distracting. Better to let the audience figure some shite out than go over the top overtly explaining everything in the beginning

We must have seen two different Dune movies.
I thought it lacked in exposition to an extreme degree. They literally explained nothing and any audience member that’s not already familiar would be crazy confused.

Are you sure, the opening 15 minutes or so felt like a pure exposition dump. It was a voice over explaining the spice, space travel, the emperor, how the fremen were exploited throughout their history, etc.

It definitely wasn’t 15 minutes. It was a couple of minutes at most and was pretty vague.
The biggest complaint I’ve seen online for non-fans was how confusing it was and how little explanation there was.

Ya the voice over was shorter but there were a lot of other info dump tricks used. Paul watching exposition movies, odd lines with characters explaining stuff to each other about things like the benegesserit plan, etc. It certainly made it difficult for me to get immersed in the movie early on. It was vague cause there is way too much of a learning curve to succeed - but I still found the amount that was present distracting me.
I'm not surprised that nonreqders didn't get a lot of it cause it is difficult to comprehend the mass of small comments trying to flesh out the world. I think they would have been better served focusing in and letting characters interactions provide an expanding understanding of the world.
But bringing it back to the wheel of time, the structure of the story allows for us to learn the world largely as the main characters do as they venture out of the two rivers so hopefully they will avoid too many infodumps or have it happen in a more organic way

I watched a breakdown of some of last weeks releases - but seems to confirm we will get the Al'Thor farm scene from winternight. I thought that may have been switched to being done in Emond's Field.

Just happy to see a trailer that actually addresses the plot of the series.

Ya, I'm waiting on the full trailer - it has to be this week - we are what like 3 weeks out?

Amazon aparrantley released somethign on prime including character bios for Emond's Field 5 + Moiraine and Lan.
Also, they released an interactive map that you can click around. It is different from the actual map in some ways, but pretty close. Just a hunch, but I think they may move some things around to help cut back travel time when trying to condense certain plotlines as well as probably reduced the cities to combine certain plots so they happen in the same location.
Also some timelines showing the breaking of the world, a child is born, etc. - looks like they are including some of the elements we get through prophecies and epigraphs at the beginning of the chapter.

Looks like they changed Abell to a total deadbeat. Which I don’t love.
Also:
Full Trailer tomorrow morning. Just announced on official Insta

He was a gambling fool - man knew himself some horse flanks - i'm hoping they just lean into that and don't make him like a drunk abuser or something like that.
Can't wait for tomorrow though, a little nervous the trailer won't land. The good thing is that with Season 2 already greenlit, the show will have the opportunity to prove itself regardless of the initial numbers.

Yup, its really cool they are doing an official Pre-Show with the Dusty Wheel, throwing a big time bone to the fan community. It is awesome.

Ya I've been going back and putting on his deep dive episodes on while I work.
The generic sit and chat ones I don't listen to but deep dives and then marketing material analysis videos are pretty solid if you are just looking for some WoT stuff to kill time until show releases.

I'm glad they didn't give it to Daniel Greene. I really cannot stand that guy and I feel like I'm the only one. He annoys the shite out of me.

Ya, I watch some of his stuff if it crosses my particular interests - but he comes off as really preachy.
I remember when he was talking about his new book and self-publishing and said something like "Hire an editor to avoid errors - don't be a part of the problem with self publishing". I don't completely disagree with the sentiment but just dropping it like everyone who has a dream of publishing their book can drop $5k - $10k extra on hiring an editor rubbed me the wrong way.
I really like the Dusty Wheel and his deep dives, analysis of the trailers, etc., but a lot of the others I don' like and they don't seem to add much value to the discussion although some do some interesting analysis of the production and stuff.
