Fantasy series by John Gwynn. Never heard of it but Saw it today. Maybe a mix of Game of Thrones and the First Law books.

Anyone read it? If so is it worth getting into?

I thought it was an excellent series. Very gritty fantasy, much like First Law, but it's more straight forward classic fantasy in terms having a definite good guy protagonist. I wouldn't put it quite on the same tier as GOT or First Law, but it's very good and I would put it in with my next group of fantasy authors.

I forget how I came across it myself honestly, as I'm not sure I've seen anyone mention it here. Definitely worth reading if you are a fan of fantasy though.

Thanks. Will definitely check it out once I get through the last couple unread books on my nightstand.

Just finished the second book.

I’m really surprised that this series hasn’t been mentioned here before.

I actually think it’s better than the first law trilogy, at least so far. I agree it is less morally ambiguous but the writing and characters are great.

Lots of tension and violence. Can’t wait to read the next 2.

Yeah, it's one of my favorite series I've read recently. It definitely doesn't get the hype it deserves (or any for that matter).

I'd agree it's probably better than the First Law trilogy by itself, but I think book 3 of First Law and the one off books after it push it slightly ahead for me (I'm a huge fan of the three books Abercrombie wrote after the trilogy).

I’ve heard those were all good. They are on my reading list for the year.

With the number of sci-fi and fantasy fans on this board, I’m shocked so few have heard of this series.

Gwynn has a new series out too. I think just the first book is out. Sounds like a follow up to Tha Faithful and the Fallen with more of a focus on the Ben-Elim several years after the events in Wrath.

Haven’t read yet so don’t know if it’s as good.
