Probably best to just assume major spoilers from here on out. The more I dig into Oathbringer the more threads I want to discuss.
If it’s truly a hand to hand combat duel with champions, I hope it’s Adolin. Kaladin will most likely die. Or something in his oath will prevent him from fighting Moash, but I just cant shake the feeling that he and Syl will sacrifice themselves at some point. Even if he’s merely in damnantion after a new oathpact. They form a new oathpact with new Herlads and Kal is sent to damnation, but Taravangian as Shard is able to deceive them all and the oathpact seals away the Herlads and the Fused, but leaves a champion for Odium on Roshar. It’s revealed that Moash isn’t bound by the pact because he isn’t a “fused”. He’s something different.
After Kal’s death all hope seems lost and Dalinar screams out “Isn’t there anyone who will face Odium’s champion and Adolin steps up and says “Kaladin is dead, but I’ll see what I can do.”
Also, in one of Dalinar’s visions he sees Talenel and it is revealed that he was the only one sent to damnation the last time as he was “The strongest among us. The one who never broke. The one who was never meant to be one of us. He wasn’t a scholar or a general or a king.”
I can’t wait for Sanderson to delve into the backstory of the Herlads. You know it’s coming.

He has already said that Stormlight Era 2 will much more heavily focus on the Heralds, and at least two of the Flashbacks in 2 of the books will be Heralds.

Taravangian is a phenomenal character and having him as Odium…I don’t know where that will go. I’m assuming new Odium still is bound by the oath to present a champion. But does this new Odium still have the same end goal? Supposedly, while still a human, everything he did was for the preservation of his people FROM Odium. Where does he go from here?
The end of Rhythm of War was fascinating, how Wit lost his memory and his perfect pitch. That’ll have big ramifications somehow.

That said...
POSSIBLE SPOILERY THING!!!
I feel like Sanderson is setting Adolin up to somehow resurrect his dead-eye then bond her, which could lead to all sorts of wildness.

How far into the books are you?

That wouldn’t surprise me. Maybe that’s something a bond smith can do

SPOILER:
Here’s a fun thought: If a voidspren can use a Parsh body by occupying their gem heart, and when they become “fused” they gain all the knowledge and intelligence and abilities of the spren could a voidspren become a brutal sentient chasmfiend?

I'm on my 2nd read-through in preparation for the release of the new novel.
*****SMALL SPOILER*****
Just got to the part where Adolin, Shallan and crew go back to Shadesmar to try to convince the Honorspren. In this read-through I've found that I forgot (ex: a lot of the Renarin story) or missed a LOT of things (ex: somewhere along the first or second book it seemed like Sanderson started moving toward some sort of tie-in with Jasnah's intelligence and emotional distance and the Nightwitch, maybe as part of Dalinar's boon?, but then moved away from it and never went back).

I'm still waiting. My address isn't even locked yet.
Not SLA but it looks like we're getting Bands of Mourning leatherbound soon. Sanderson is killing my wallet the last couple years.

I’m glad you are enjoying The Way of Kings. Stormlight is an amazing adventure. I really hope nothing is spoiled for you. I’m on my third re-read. My first time through I had no spoilers and no help from the wiki. Just went through amazed by the universe crafted. Second time I delved more into the wiki. This time I think I know more about some areas of Roshar than I do Earth
Be warned: The closer we get to December the more spoilers will inevitably be in this thread. By Dec 10 I assume you won’t be able to click on this thread without finishing Wind and Truth.
Yea this will probably be my last post. One person already spoiled something in jest, but I'd rather not have anything spoiled so I'll just steer clear.
I'm almost done now. It's so good. Just finished a pretty big moment, where Kal saved Dalinar in battle and then Dalinar gave up a shardblade in order to gain the bridgeman. Pretty awesome series of event. Dalinar pimp slapped Elhokar around a bit which was nice, maybe he won't be such a puss from now on.
Can't wait to get started on book 2. Got my buddy going on Mistborn and he loved it too.

Yeah I would say that is a big moment

Start a first read thread with no spoilers. Love seeing people’s first time through it and generally agree with you in the sci fi thread. Got my wife and our book friend into the series and loved having convos with them throughout.
