So I'm maybe 1/5 through book one of Stormlight and hopefully these intros to each chapter don't have to be recalled back to mind too much. "Recorded 8 seconds prior to death" stuff is going to be hard for me to remember.
The snippets at the beginning of each chapter are different for every section of every book.
There are a few that unless you get deep into lore they won't make much sense. Some don't make sense until later.
You don't really need to worry about it now, its not something that will have any effect on your read. On 2nd reads they are much more eye opening.

Didn't realize these were so long so I bought the audio book as well. Not a fan at all of the female narrator. Her male voices aren't too good and most of them don't sound like men. Hopefully she isn't in all of the audio books.
Never read the audio books so can't help you there.

She and her husband split duties on the SLA books.

Can already tell this is for sure going to have more character development than Mistborn. I'm digging the Kaladin backstory.
Wouldn't want to be a man on the bridge crew. Yeesh.

I'm a big fan of the Mistborn series, but they aren't even in the same stratosphere. SLA is wayyyyy more in depth.
As far as the audiobooks go, she grew on me eventually but she's not my favorite.

That chapter was brutal to read and doesn’t get easier on reread.

Stormlight Archive is Sanderson's magnum opus. It takes him 3-4 years to write and publish Stormlight books due to size and complexity of story. Most of the Mistborn books took a year to write and publish.

Well I hadnt planned on a third re-read of Cosmere stuff this year but here I am. Finished Stormlight, Warbreaker, Mistborn Era 1, Sunlit and Tress. Gonna try and squeeze in at least Era 2 and maybe Elantris and Yumi before Wind and Truth drops.

Just finished warbreaker for the first time. That and Elantris are the only two I have left. Solid book but holy shite the ending was rushed.

If you don’t like the narrators then the Stormlight series will not be for you. These two do most of the Cosmere books. I only do audiobooks so I do understand that the narrator makes huge difference. Elantris (my least favorite) is a different narrator.
There are some Cosmere books that only have Kramer’s narration. The Mistborn books are all Kramer I think. Sunlit Man and some others I believe.

I’m doing a full reread of Stormlight series before the new one releases. I had intended to only reread Rhythm but I enjoyed it so much I went back to the beginning.

Yes it’s quite evident the thought he put into this series. It’s genius, really. The amount of creativity needed to map out a story of this size and link together this huge world he’s built and all its lore.
I love Mistborn but Stormlight is next level in terms of complexity.

I do probably 90% reading and 10% listening. The narrator isn't going to make the difference on whether it will be for me or not.. I loved Mistborn and loving this (halfway through book 1) so it's definitely up my alley. I was just going to use the audio book to speed up the process a little more since they're on the larger side. Will probably listen when I get a chance when it's the male narrator, the girls narration just doesn't hold my attention very well so I stopped listening to her.

It’s just bc you know it’s a Shallan chapter when you hear your voice, and it’s hard not to check out

Without spoilers obviously, but is she generally viewed as one of the weaker/least interesting characters?

She's complicated but I personally was meh on her in WoK, loved her in WoR, OK in OB, and got real tired of her real quick in RoW.
She has good moments but her story is kinda clunky at times and she can be cheesy.
Some of the bad parts should be toned down in W&T.

It's so complex with so many details etc, that he has at least 1 full time person on his staff whose job is to maintain and ensure the continuity of the Cosmere between all the books.

I forgot how brutal Dalinar’s back story in Oarhbringer is. Sanderson did such a good job of overlaying older Dalinar trying to peacefully unite Roshar with younger Dalinar brutalizing everyone on it. He’s basically a psychotic monster possessed by an insatiable bloodlust demon. The battle scenes are done extremely well. The Blackthorn possessed by The Thrill was an amazing animal.
And then there’s the Shallan chapters with her split personalities in Urithiru. Some scenes are great but much of it is a slog. I think it’s made worse because I’m listening to the audible instead of reading it and the woman’s “pattern” voice is grindingly annoying.
