Moash is such an unbelievable piece of shite. I cannot wait to read of his death.

Kal, in an unbelievably stupid move, just gave him his Shardplate and blade in Words of Radiance.

Upon reread, knowing what happened, I think it’s funny the readers feelings towards Moash probably mirror Karl’s towards Amaram or Adolin’s towards Sadeas

You think he would have learned his lesson when he tried to give his first set to Coreb.

Just finished my re-read of the 3rd book and about to start book 4. I can't believe how much I've forgotten.

Same. I just hit part 5 of RoW and it's a much better book on the reread. It was a huge slog to get through when I first read. Still my least favorite but it's better now.

Same. It was by far my least favorite on first read and I struggled to get through it.

Was way more enjoyable on a 2nd read

Finished HoA. Wow. Not at all how I was expecting that to go.

Only thing I figured would happen that did was that beauty/color would be restored back to the earth and that Elend would die. Did not see virtually everybody dying and Sazed actually being the HoA.

I was getting thrown off there some because I wasn't wrapping my head around the whole preservation thing. Ruin was easy to follow but was Preservation ever in any type of physical form while Vin was alive?

Sazed having doubts about his faith and religion in general and then actually becoming God is pretty great. I like the whole Preservation and Ruin balacing out to Harmony aspect. Very unique. I'm not great at predicting ending but I don't know how anybody could have saw that coming. Glad Sazed had a good ending.

TenSoon, my man. Wish he could have gotten a better end.

I wasn't even a huge Elend fan, not that I disliked him at all, he was a good character, just not one of my favorites. But his death was pretty emotional. Felt really bad for him. I was still kind of holding out hope they could pull it off there at that end after they gained more allomancers. But, it was not to be. That was actually probably my only complain, is when there at the end when all of those that got sick in the mist became allomancers and Elend just kind of said "tell them they're now allomnancers and get them ready for battle." Like I guess it required no training at all for them to be able to use their powers. A very minor gripe.

Overall the best series I've read since The First Law and their stand alone books.

Just a random note, not that having some gays in the book would have kept me from reading it, but I was very surprised no gay characters popped up. I can't think of the last time I read a fantasy series without numerous gay people in it It was kind of refreshing. And a series where religion isn't just shat on throughout but faith actually plays a big part.

Would you be surprised that Sanderson gave you a hint on the very first page of Mistborn 1?

The Final Empire - Prologue epigraph (the epigraphs in Mistborn 1 are from Alendi's journal):

Sometimes I worry that I'm not the hero everyone thinks I am.

The philosophers assure me that this is the time, that the signs have been met. But I still wonder if they have the wrong man. So many people depend on me. They say I will hold the future of the entire world on my arms.

If you keep reading, you'll see there are some ramifications from this.

Hmmm

They all kind of fade together, and this is incredibly convoluted, but I think this is explained in Secret History (I could be wrong), so it would be a spoiler. I recommend waiting until after Bands of Mourning (Mistborn Era 2 Book 3) to read Secret history

This will change but its never something that is a big deal in his books and not something he features in any prominent way shape or form.

Sanderson is a pretty devout Mormon.

Ah, makes sense. Won't bother me when it changes but I was pleasantly surprised.

I feel like I'm maybe doing something wrong with the coppermind oonline. There are a couple characters i wanted to read up a little more on and just general research, and I set the time machine to 1/1/2010 since that would be everything pre stormlight archives, but no information pops up for any characters. Just this message...

Unless I'm looking at the wrong release dates for the books.

I haven't really used it much as I have been reading the books as they come out for a long time, so I don't know.

In terms of LGBT and all that, sanderson is just never going to be overly woke, and he's never going to be overt with any of that to a large degree.

There is a fairly prominent character that is asexual clearly, one that is likely bi, a minor-ish recurring side character in Mistborn Era 2 that is a lesbian, a gay minor-ish side character in stormlight, even a very very minor character in one of the novellas that is likely trans (its done so subtly I bet many didn't notice)...

But the world is like that. Virtually all actual relationships are hetero and he really never talks about the other things much, they just kinda are what they are

Unfortunately it appears Time Machine only goes back a few years currently, to Stormlight 2

I may be able to answer some questions you may have without spoiling anything.

However, Mistborn era 1 is my least favorite of all of Sanderson's series so I haven't reread it in awhile, might be a bit fuzzy on some things

Era two characters are so much better even if the story isn’t as “epic” if that makes sense. Cringed so hard when I heard they were named Wax and Wayne but man they are great.

Chapters 84 and 85 in Words of Radiance from Kaladin crawling to Elhokar’s room through him landing in front of Szeth are my favorite chapters and in all of fantasy.

Words of Radiance is just an absolute masterpiece.

Cannot wait for Winds and Truth. Less than 2 months away. It comes.

I see this sentiment often so I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the series. The only Cosmere thing I have not enjoyed was Elantris. No interest in revisiting that one.

I like Elantris.

Era 1 is fine, its just a bit jarring to read when you've read his other stuff and you revisit because he clearly got a lot better as a writer. I also don't enjoy the characters and setting as much. It just hasn't aged well for me.

Everyone is different. I have a friend who loves it and has tried to read the rest of the cosmere and can't

Re-reading that now, somehow I've forgotten about pretty much every development with Renarin and his spren so much of his story is "new" to me.

So I'm maybe 1/5 through book one of Stormlight and hopefully these intros to each chapter don't have to be recalled back to mind too much. "Recorded 8 seconds prior to death" stuff is going to be hard for me to remember.

There is already a lot to take in with this. Initial reaction is again I like the magic system with the stormlight stuff. Very unique. Not sure if he'll be around long but I already like the Kaladin character.

Didn't realize these were so long so I bought the audio book as well. Not a fan at all of the female narrator. Her male voices aren't too good and most of them don't sound like men. Hopefully she isn't in all of the audio books.
