Book 6: Light Bringer May 2, 2023 delayed to July 25, 2023
Book 7: Red God TBD

Someone has been busy. A bit disappointed we aren’t getting it for Christmas like the previous rumors had mentioned, but the 7th book will make up for it.

Yeah saw something about early stages with a service for a show.

Hope they don’t try and pull the same stuff with making Sevro a chick which caused Brown to pause and pull out of movie production a few years ago.

Supposedly the studio wanted to make a love triangle with Darrow, Sevro, and Mustang.

Happy we finally have some release dates. Pierce had been making some cryptic posts on his social media over the past year and a half and it seemed like he was really struggling with how to conclude it.

The two books are encouraging because it gives him more runway to end it properly and not cram everything into one. Dark Age left a lot to be answered.

I tried to gather what I could from Pierce at Comic Con and I didn’t hear anything about a show but he was apparently wearing an Amazon Prime lanyard. Not sure if all the presenters had the same, but the budget to make a RR show properly would have to be gargantuan and Amazon has the money. but I’d be worried if they did it given how WoT was a disappointment, though.

Glad we have a date but disappointed it’s not in 2022

Excited for the extra book.

Sad that it's 9 months away.

ETA: If he pulls a GRRM since he basically wrote most of book 7 already when he split book 6 in two then we can expect Red God in about 2030, right?

I could not get into the 2nd series with older Darrow.

It just kind of shat on the original trilogy and all they accomplished and was very needlessly dark and hopeless, not to mention the multiple viewpoints I don't care about.

I read the first one and I just never got around to the 2nd one.

Dark age was a lot better than Iron gold to me

I still very much enjoyed the 2nd series, but I prefer the first trilogy more as well. The 2nd introduced some things that felt cheap, imo.

I can definitely see that. Ephraim is a great character though.

Dark Age is a big improvement on Iron Gold. The other POVs are much more interesting because of the situations and characters they are interacting with. And a lot more focus on Darrow

Dark age was exactly what it said it was. DARK

Can't wait to read the next one. Love this series but scared to death of Amazon getting it. They destroyed Wheel of Time, they dont get to mess this one up. Sci Fi is tricky.

I've always hoped that HBO would get Red Rising.

Its right up their alley imo. Would just need the right person to run it. Go after whoever did the Expanse.

That would definitely be the best home for it. With the proper budget they'd do it correctly.

Just re-read the series (including Dark Age for the first time). Excited for these but was hoping the next one would be out sooner. Dark Age was better than Iron Gold, will be interested to see how he finishes this out because I was satisfied with the end of the first trilogy. Felt like he killed off more characters than necessary in these last 2 books but interesting story nonetheless

Damn, I read this series right after the third one was released and had no idea he wrote more. Are the last two books as good as the first three?

Not as good as the original trilogy is the consensus, but still very good to great. Main difference is the 4th & 5th books are told from multiple POVs instead of only Darrow's. And those other POVs have their own plot lines running parellel to whatever Darrow is doing.

Some of those POV's are better than others, so you hit some slow downs when you get to chapters in the books told by characters that you arent really interested in (specifically in book 4). But by book 5, even those side stories are pretty good.

Edit: And a lot of people consider book 5 to be maybe the 2nd best book of the 5 released so far. So I guess if book 6 comes out firing, then you can possibly consider books 4-6 on par with the original trilogy.

Pierce released the book cover for Light Bringer but also announced a two-month delay of the release to July 25
