DeBartolo, 73, pleaded guilty in 1998 to a felony charge. He reportedly failed to report that former Louisiana governor Edwin Edwards allegedly extorted $400,000 from him to win a casino license. The former NFL owner paid $1 million in penalties and served two years of probation.

Former NFL players Jerry Rice and Jim Brown, among others, reportedly met with Trump to discuss DeBartolo’s case. Rice praised President Trump for his pardon on Tuesday morning.
