The Miami Dolphins have fired coach Tony Sparano, owner Stephen Ross announced. Assistant head coach/secondary Todd Bowles will take over the team on an interim basis. And, Ross plans to hire Carl Peterson, former president of the Kansas City Chiefs, to fill the role of executive vice president of football operations once held by Bill Parcells, a source told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.
