I think I'm in the minority that actually liked these uniforms, but the NFL has told the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that they can no longer wear their throwback “Bucco Bruce” helmets due to safety issues. The team released the following statement...

“While we regret that our players will not be able to don the ‘Bucco Bruce’ helmet and traditional orange, red and white uniforms, there simply was no acceptable way to meet the requirements of the new policy while staying true to the spirit of our throwback theme.”

I like the throwbacks every once in awhile but it's understandable why they can't wear them. I don't like the fancy pancy pirate though. I love the new flag logo.

I can't think of one NFL team that their uniform got better when they made a change. Bucs-No, Broncos-No, Patriots-No, Dolphins-No. Wish they would just leave them as is and quit trying to make more merchandise money by making changes.

If you read the link (and the link within the link), it says the reason is that, because of the difference between the pewter color of the normal helmets and the white of these, each player would have to wear a new helmet. The league apparently wants each player to wear the same exact helmet all year for concussion issues.

It's a bummer. Their dozens of fans will be disappointed.
