I dont like the 1 year suspension. I still believe if you gambled on a game in a league in which you are under contract, what else might you do in the future? I go with baseball on this. Gambling is a lifetime ban. In every locker room there is a sign. NO GAMBLING. If you are too stupid to not follow the rules then you forfeit you eligibility.

I still don't see what he really did wrong after I read up on it. He wasn't playing for ATL, he had already quit on the team. He gambled/placed bets in NOV. I still don't see what the issue is, truthfully. Had he just beat the shite out of a woman and gotten a DUI, he'd have only gotten suspended for 4 games. Great moral high ground, NFL. Way to go!

You clearly don't bet on sports - integrity is the only thing that keeps the gambling train viable. Can't have players (or coaches/refs for that matter) betting, period.

DD, weird that you're an Alabama fan and you see no wrong. You are assuming this was the only game he bet on. The NFL is going to assume this WAS NOT the only game he bet on.
