What a sad day for UAB football players, coaches and fans. On Tuesday, UAB President Ray L. Watts released a statement announcing the school would be eliminating its football program in order to put more funds toward other athletic programs. He also spoke to the team directly. The reaction was sad and angry. I feel bad for these guys...

Things almost got a little out of hand when Watts left the facility...

Feel bad for these guys. Football all your life and it's stripped away from you by fricking politicians. Good luck in your future UAB players!

It is unfortunate that it happened but it would be worse for the program to keep living a lie and act like it is sustainable. Would cost them more money that they don't have. It's hard for me to complain about a government entity cutting costs when all they do these days is spend money they don't have and frick up everything they get their hands on. It is a shame it comes at the expense of these young guys.

Is it safe to say that if all of these fans that are outraged and voicing their anger actually went to games and supported the program, that they wouldn't be in this situation?

Not trolling, just curious.
