The Big 12 announced that they're extending invitations to BYU, Central Florida, Cincinnati, and Houston on Friday morning. Who's not on that list is Memphis. So, they had to release a statement later in the later the day to basically beg their fans not to freak out about that...

At this point, I think Memphis should shift their focus to the ACC and hope for expansion there. Good basketball conference and average football...that's what Memphis is. And the ACC could expand their footprint a little westward.
