Penn State LB Micah Parsons has got some explaining to do. When his head coach James Franklin randomly surprised his class to take attendance, Parsons was no where to be found...
quote:

Land Of 10-On Tuesday, the Nittany Lions coach took a surprise visit to a class and called out his players’ names to see if they were where they were supposed to be. It appeared as though eight players were there, but there should have been a ninth: Parsons.

I knew Franklin would turn PSU around. As soon as he was announced as their HC back when they were down in the dumps from the Sandusky/Joe Pa situation, I thought man if PSU was a stock I'd buy as much of it as I could afford right now. Franklin does a lot of showy stuff for the public eye but he backs it with substance and it always seems to work with his programs. Hope LSU gives him a look one day.

Lol, why so many downvotes? Franklin turned freaking Vandy into a competitive team setting all kinds of milestones there. He then went to Penn St in the last year of the sanctions (outside of the scholarship restrictions), and in 3 years he won the Big 10.

Not taking away anything from Franklin, because I think he is a very good ball coach, but Bill O'Brien gets a lot of credit holding that program together. Coming in after those cowards and just keeping the ship afloat, with very few scholarship athletes still on the team, gave Franklin a chance to succeed. O'Brien is the real hero here. If not for him, I think that whole program could have gone in a completely different direction. Kudos to them both, either way, I did not see this coming 5 years ago.
