One problem is mostly out of their control - Miami is a hell hole. No recruit wants to go there and then have to play in crappy conference

Miami's NW "American Black Ghetto" is a hotbed for their recruiting efforts. You should see how UM puts these recruits in upscale hotels in Coconut Grove (close to campus) for their official visits and when the "The Gang's All Here " takes a whole different meaning.
