LSU’s live tiger mascot MikeVI did not attend any home football games in 2014, but LSU president F. King Alexander announced this week that they will attempt to load Mike into his trailer for the first three home games and bring him into the stadium.

The Tigers first three home games of the 2015 season are against McNeese State this Saturday, then against Auburn on Sept. 19, and Eastern Michigan on Oct. 3. Per LSUSports.net:
quote:

“Mike’s behavior last year demonstrated that he was unwilling to load for the games,” said F. King Alexander, president of LSU. “We hope he will come to the games this year, but we are prepared to revisit our decision in early October if he chooses not to load.”

Alexander said the other option is to leave Mike in his habitat for the fans to enjoy from there rather than including him in pre-game festivities at Tiger Stadium.
Mike VI has attended 32 of the 57 home games since arriving on campus in 2007.

It is the fireworks, people. They want pyrotechnics at pregame. You have a choice. Fireworks or a Tiger....

It is not natural for him to want to go where he thinks he is being shot.

DUH!

It's believed the reasoning behind him not wanting to enter his mobile cage last year was from one of the games the previous year involving the cannon going off near his cage. At least that is what Mike told me.

Someone's not trying very hard. If Mike is outthinking the staff maybe it's time to change the staff...

The chances of seeing Mike in Tiger stadium are about the same chance of rain.

They should serve his meals in the trailer.

The trainers cannot force Mike into the cage. That would lose his trust and would be unsafe to work around. I met one of Mikes trainers a few weeks ago and he does really well with Mike.

He said another problem for Mike is he hears all of the crowds and commotion outside and wants to go into his habitat and see what is going on instead of going into the cage.

Maybe they should take him to the stadium on non-game days, too. At least the predictability would not be 100%.

Mike the Tiger needs to get his arse in the trailer - period - he has one job - they can make a Tiger jump throw a ring of fire - someone knows how to get a Tiger in a big arse trailer -

Mike VI is on the hot seat. Plenty of other tigers would love that gig.

What if mike likes the cold November games instead if the hot September and October games? they will have made a decision sole based on the hot temperature games and won't even try for the cold temperature games. so he would possibly come out for the cold games but they aren't even going to try then because a decision will already be made after the hot games.

I have trouble with the definition of irony, would this be irony?

Get some new handlers/trainers that can actually get him in the cage on game day.
