Not within 3 yards of the line of scrimmage. Within 3 yards of the line of scrimmage there is no block in the back, no blindside block. That rule is only for open field, not within 3 yards of the line of scrimmage. So, no, it wasn't illegal at all. Hence, the refs did not call it.
