Mississippi State jumped LSU in ESPN's most recent SEC Power Rankings despite the fact that both teams did not play last weekend.

The Tigers also ended the season two weeks ago with a win over Texas A&M while the Bulldogs lost to Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl.
quote:

4. Mississippi State (8-4): Joe Moorhead posed for photos with Bully the bulldog and rang a cowbell for the first time last week, thus beginning his tenure as Mississippi State's next head coach.

5. LSU (9-3): The Tigers finished No. 17 in the College Football Playoff committee rankings and are headed to the Citrus Bowl presented by Overton's. A solid first season for Ed Orgeron.

Complete Power Rankings:
1. Georgia (12-1)
2. Alabama (11-1)
3. Auburn (10-3)
4. Mississippi State (8-4)
5. LSU (9-3)
6. South Carolina (8-4)
7. Texas A&M (7-5)
8. Ole Miss (6-6)
9. Missouri (7-5)
10. Kentucky (7-5)
11. Vanderbilt (5-7)
12. Arkansas (4-8)
13. Florida (4-7)
14. Tennessee (4-8)

I don't know why I even look at these stupid things.

MSU ahead of LSU after dropping the egg bowl? Who wrote these? The article said that these are the final rankings until bowl season. Don't they realize that Moorhead won't coach the Taxslayer bowl?

If this doesn't show you how stupid it is to look into "power rankings", I do not know what else could.

Without Fitzgerald, Miss State isn’t in the top 6- even if DM had stayed.

Agreed. Mississippi State has 4 losses and Auburn has 3, plus we beat them after spotting them 20 points. LSU should be #3 in this poll. Ridiculous

I repeat: LSU will not get respect because O doesn't get any. LSU will have play at a high level every week consistently to even begin to get the benefit of the doubt.

This has been going on long before O arrived. And everything I read is what a solid job O has done with this young team this season. I agree.
