LSU running back Tyrion Davis-Price announced that he is dedicating Saturday's season opener vs. Mississippi State to Remy Hidalgo, a Denham Springs High School athlete who tragically died last week after collapsing during a football practice.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Hidalgo family.

Per The Advocate:
quote:

Hidalgo, a junior lineman for the Yellow Jackets, died early Friday morning in a New Orleans hospital, according to a social media post made by his mother, Ashley Roberson. He is the first Baton Rouge area football player to die during a season since 2012.

Hidalgo was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital on Tuesday and then airlifted to Children’s Hospital of New Orleans on Wednesday. A prayer gathering attended by several hundred DSHS students was held Wednesday night on the school’s football field.

RIP Remy. One of our players was killed walking to taco bell after a game. He was like third string, but it was a blow out, so he got to play some. He left a note for his mom excited telling her he got to play. Tragic. Price is getting 2 tds, calling it.
