Two years ago before Joe Burrow was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals, the former LSU star was down in Miami for Super Bowl LIV.

Burrow, who had just won a National Championship, did a bunch of interviews during Super Bowl week and delivered this great quote about teams doubting him.

In 2018, Joe was pretty good, not great. Then in 2019 he set the world on fire. I’ve never seen anything like that.

Towards the end of his first season at LSU we (LSU fans) started realizing we had something. During the bowl game I think we all realized he could be special.

This narrative is that LSU fans are slow learners. I knew he was different from game one. But the bowl game hit story is cute. He was tough and great before that.

@bgtiger But he wasn’t great before that. No evidence to back that up. No one could have seen 2019 coming.

Saban thought Joe Burrow was only good enough to come be the third string QB for him. Great evaluation there Nick.

You mean the same Sabam who passed on Drew Brees? Lol.

He did have Tua and Hurts at the time and had never really seen Joe play yet

he wasn't exactly lighting it up with LSU his first year - he completed 57% of his passes. By all measurements and evaluations he was pretty mediocre till his senior season.
