Sporting News has released updated Preseason Top 25 Rankings for the 2020 season and pegged LSU at No. 5. Here's what they had to say about the Tigers:
quote:

5. LSU
What will LSU and Ed Orgeron do for an encore without Joe Burrow and Joe Brady? Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, left, too. Myles Brennan will finally get his shot at quarterback, and Ja'Marr Chase and Terrace Marshall Jr. are back for another season. The Tigers lose a ton to the NFL Draft (nine draft-eligible juniors, including running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire), but LSU's defense returns enough pieces to build around sophomore cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. and another loaded recruiting class. Offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger can work with what's left. Texas and Alabama visit Tiger Stadium, but there are road trips to Florida, Auburn and Texas A&M.
Top 10:
1. Clemson
2. Ohio State
3. Alabama
4. Georgia
5. LSU
6. Oregon
7. Oklahoma
8. Notre Dame
9. Penn State
10. Florida

Notre Dame again? Have been completely irrelevant since the 80's.

Swamp is always tough, but I believe LSU beats Bama at home.

I think that is a pretty generous ranking given we lost a shite load of players and coaching staff versus last year.

LSU beat 3 of the top 4. Therefore, they are #5. (??)

Hilarious. LSU beat 6 of those teams in the top 10. 4 of them are ranked higher than LSU in this poll. Win yourself a natty = still no respect. There will be some more "chip on shoulder" playing for LSU this year- which I personally think is awesome.

Florida is too low. They will be a handful this year.

Florida, LSU and Alabama will be the class of the league. Another miracle will be needed to beat Alabama and Florida twice.
