The financial settlement details have been revealed for former defensive coordinator Bo Pelini, along with the contract amendments for former offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger and defensive line coach Bill Johnson.

Pelini, who 'mutually parted ways with LSU' before the holidays, will be paid a one-time payment of $4 million by Jan. 31.

Man I wish my job would pay me 4 million dollars to not work.

Pelini should’ve prosecuted for fraud and embezzlement for what he did to LSU.

Understatement but fraud is completely normal and acceptable with the Big Dogs in every industry.

I think the defense improved enough at the end of the season (especially A&M and Florida) that a thanks and see you later is all that's needed.

These guys are so overpaid for what they do. $550K to be an offensive analyst?
user avatar

They are paying his full salary this year because he was forced of the field. Analyst don't get this type of salary. This was just a thank you for giving up his spot.

And a thank you that they'll be able to get rid of him a year earlier.

Feat not, the Marxists taking over the country will soon decide what everyone's job is worth. Not head coaches and athletic directors. There will be income equality committees that determine what you earn, probably headed by LaToya in Louisiana.

“ It also included a additional payments of $70,000, made in five $14K payments through March 31, 2023.” Someone explain this. Why wouldn’t LSU just pay the $70,000 now? It’s $70,000.
user avatar
Murda198739 months
Maybe they have an agreement to quit paying the $70,000 if he agrees to another paid coaching position. Nothing to back that up, but there has to be a reason.

Maybe it has something to do with retirement benefits? Keeps him on payroll another two years.

Where are all the “consultants” who said the LSU boosters couldn’t buy out Pelini?
user avatar
LSU2a39 months
I never said that myself but I did hear the same thing from prominent TAF members who stated that noone was willing to put up the money to pay Pelini’s buyout. Granted that was back in October and probably before they negotiated a reduced amount.

This should come out of O's pocket and not LSU's or it boosters. Let's not forget Canada as well. He should be responsible for cleaning up his own mess and not get a bail out because he make a crappy hiring decision. O got the credit for the Natty so he should get the blame for this.

A number of professional sports commentators and Tiger fans praised the hiring of Pelini and now that it didn't work out, folks are all over O for the hire. It's the very definition of Arm Chair QB. 20-20 hindsight makes geniuses of us all. I'd much rather a coach who can recognize a mistake and take action to correct it than a guy who keeps a guy on staff to "hide" his mistake or keeps a bad fit coach on staff because they're buddies. Lord knows, we've had enough of that in the past. In case, fans don't understand, hiring a coaching staff whether HC or support is not an exact science.

Glad to see the Shrimp Boat Captain still writing HUGE departure checks to his Shitty hires. Not like Louisiana is loaded with money, except the trial attorney's of course.

O is a POS looking after his barbecue buddies by making sure they get paid a ton of money after they were basically fired. Truly makes me dislike him

You don't know how any of this works, do you Forever? It's ok to admit you don't know, but it's not ok to act like you do and make stupid statements such as the one above.
