ESPN college football analyst Ryan Leaf was on the latest episode of the 'College Football Podcast with Herbie & Pollack,' and praised LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, even comparing him of NFL star Tom Brady. Per 247Sports:
quote:

“Well also, not just his accuracy, but his willingness to throw balls into traffic knowing that he has the faith in those wide receivers – Jefferson, Chase, Moss, all of them being able to catch the football,” he said. “And they do. If you look at all the catches against Oklahoma, a ton of them were contested. Some of them, he just kind of threw up there. He has so much belief in his receivers to make plays, and they do, which builds his completion percentage.”

Leaf went on to offer up a lofty comparison for Burrow, likening his game to that of one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game in New England Patriots star Tom Brady.

“(He) reminds me a ton of Tom Brady,” Leaf said. “And that makes sense, right? Guys who are playing in this day and age for the last 20 years have emulated who the best at the next level has been and that’s been Tom Brady. I mean, he stands in the pocket very confident, doesn’t move a lot, just uses his feet, gets the quickly, accurately and if there’s pressure, he knows where to go with it and I think that’s what makes him so special.”

Joe knows that just because it’s a 1 on 1 where the defender is close to the receiver..it doesn’t mean the receiver isn’t “open”...mostly because the defender won’t see the ball until after it’s already caught. Joe has made a ton of those throws..and hopefully Myles is paying attention.

You mean young Tom Brady because the old Tom Brady sucks.

Old or young I don't think I ever saw Tom Brady throw the ball outside the hash marks

You are an arse. That guy hit rock bottom and came back and now gets to tour the country calling college football games. He is the essence of America, the come back.

I do not remember much of Brady in college.

All well and good, but given Burrow's comments on how much he studied Brees footwork and progressions, etc and the Saints O during the summer I don't think Brady was on his mind.

Right? I get it that some ppl believe Clemsons D will slow down Burrow & LSU (I think there very wrong) enough to win the game BUT anyone who believes Clemson will dominate LSU & JB9 & win by 2-3 Scores is clearly derainged or just trying to generate buzz with outrageous & Unbelievable 'HOT TAKES'!!

Burrow is much more athletic and mobile than Brady. His game is like Brady + Aaron Rodgers.

It's never a bad thing when you are being compared to one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

It's funny how every good Black College QB reminds ppl of Vick, Cunningham or Moon & every good White QB reminds them of Brady. Wonder why?

Way better athlete than Brady

He is , but what he does inside the pocket looks a lot like Brady. They both stand tall and have a similar throwing motion and know where to go with the ball

Care to argue against the points the former College and NFL quarterback made when he made his opinion? It's more likely you would rather just throw an opinion no one besides yourself care about and run off because you have nothing of substance to add. Although we expect this from the "HEY IT TOOK US THE BETTER PART OF 50 YEARS BUT WE ARE RELEVANT AGAIN! Clemson crowd" new money is as new money does.

Also Burrow is better on the run because he’s more athletic. He’s similar to Brady in that he can torch defenses that like to blitz

Love to see him in a Patriot Uniform and not getting beat to death at the Bengals.

It is rather comical the number of people so insecure in their own life that they feel the need to follow a link with Ryan Leaf giving praise to a QB so they can interject how much they dont care what Leaf says, So you wasted all that energy to inform people that you dont know things they dont want to know? Good for you!
