It’s laugaable that we’ve become such a mediocre program we can’t compete with the likes of cincy and North Carolina

This kid looks like he wants an easy route. It isn't LSU. It's him.

By this logic Ohio state is a mediocre program since he’s choosing one of those programs over them. With all due respect, you are a moron

He’s obviously looking for a place where he can start immediately, not the place where he can win the most games.

Seems like an intelligent guy that is appropriately weighing all his options. I still think playing in the SEC would be a no brainer decision for him. The only thing that UNC has over us is the fact that they might go ahead and designate him as a starter immediately. We would be throwing him into more of a competition, it sounds like a strong possibility the LSU position would be his post competition though.

Their defense is awful… They are predicted to finish six out of seven in their division.
user avatar
Mr.Perfect71 months
So predicted to have a similar finish as us?
user avatar
Disgeaux Bob71 months
I’m not sure that’s a fair comparison. We are predicted to finish fourth in the west behind the number one and number nine teams in the country. Granted it’s all speculation at this point but UNC football should never be mentioned in the same sentence or in comparison to the Southeastern conference… Apples and oranges.

Does it really matter losing 6-7 games compared to 5-6 games no matter where you place?

Think of how many hard hits Ettling took playing in the Sec. Little bit smoother road at NC in the ACC although Clemson and FSU certainly very physical. but at Cincy he'd get through w a lot less wear and tear plus he'd look better for the pros than he we'd playing LSU's tuff schedule
user avatar
atltiger648771 months
Clemson and FSU aren't on UNC's schedule this year.
user avatar
Barbellthor71 months
Etling put himself in position to take many of those hits. But don’t kid yourself; the big ten has big boy ball, too—penn state, Ohio state, Michigan, Michigan state, Wisconsin. All contenders. That’s probably not a deciding factor.

What's all the fuss about a QB who was never any better than alternating second string throughout his college career? He has 29 completions. Nothing against the kid but ......

I can understand UNC. Two years ago Fedora had a QB go #2 overall after only one year of starting. Burrow has a similar build, athletic talent, and passing talent. Plus the offense ran is known to be good (the QB before Trubisky put up really great numbers himself).
user avatar
STRIPES71 months
That line of thinking is so stupid. Like Fedora was responsible. A kid either has talent or he doesn't. Hell, by your logic Brett Farve was at USM and owes one Curley Hallman for his success. Lol.

Um didn't ex LSU QB Brandon Harris play in that same system, how did that workout?

UNC worked out great for a graduate transfer that had the self-proclaimed "best arm in college football"...oh, wait a minute.

So Brennan and Narcisse were highly rated ELITE 11 QBs...and we’re worried about a QB who couldn’t win the starting job at another school? This is a joke

So were a lot of other qb's that couldn't make it at the school they commited too. Your point? 60% of qb's that commit to D1 schools don't make it and transfer. Elite 11 or not. Elite 11 doesn't make them automatically suceed
user avatar
atltiger648771 months
you do realize that JT Barrett was a record-setting QB for them. As for this year, Dwayne Haskins is an elite QB who filled in nicely last year for Barrett. No shame in Burrow not being able to beat them out. And it doesn't mean Burrow sucks - just that he's stuck behind some very good QBs.

Here's all UNC has to do; "Welcome Joe, meet your new OC. Oh, and he's actually an OC and can help develop your talents. Oh, and here is our playbook, it's more than 99% complete... OH, one more thing, it's been implemented successfully."
user avatar

This is a smart kid who graduated with a bachelor of science degree in 3 years from Ohio State in a program that allows him to become a certified financial planner. He's likely also smart enough to appreciate how few QBs that are starters actually get into the NFL. He also has two years of grad school that will be paid for. UNC has a very respectable [top 20] Nationally Recognized B-School with an out-of-state tuition of $58,138 per year. Even if he doesn't get to be the starter at UNC or [as the starter] head to the pros, he will be very well set up in a six-figure career upon completion of his studies there.
user avatar
atltiger648771 months
yes, but he's not picking a new school because of the MBA program. He wants to play football. I doubt the grad program is any factor at all in his decision.
user avatar
TigerMan7971 months
It is a fact that Burrow would improve our football program. Is he better than the QB's that we have now? Who knows, but competition is a good thing and should be welcomed with opened arms by our fan base. It's up to the kid to decide what's best for himself but his addition to the program would only make us better
user avatar
KING NOLA71 months
I don't know what's the big deal over this kid, I mean he couldn't win the starting job at Ohio St. even when a Freshman took over after he got hurt. Besides would he be better than what we have now I say the coaches should coach up Justin McMillan, Myles Brennan and Lowell Narcisse and I have faith that one of them will take control of the offense. Besides I'd rather use that last scholy on CB Elijah Blades he's a tall CB with 4.4 40 speed and we need CB's more than we need QB's for 2018.
user avatar
atltiger648771 months
"I have faith that one of them will take control of the offense".... so over the summer, our coaches are going to magically transform one of our 3 QBs into a quality player? Even with no practice until fall camp? You're absolutely delusional.

Burrow is the real deal and many Ohio State fans feel he should be the starter. The issue for Burrow is Haskins is really good! Martell is really good as well. We also have future recruits coming in that are good as well. It is crowded in this position and this is by no means a reflection on Burrow. Burrow is very accurate and can move as well.

He’s cute how our fans try to grasp on to any good news. Are we really getting excited over a guy who couldn’t beat out a freshman? Damn this program has sunk to a new low.

All world, but can't crack the starting lineup at OSU. You lsu fans are hilarious. Even if he's a beast your OC still thinks the wishbone is in style he's so old.
