It has been announced that LSU's annual Spring Game on April 18 will be played on Southern University's campus at A.W. Mumford Stadium while the field turf at Tiger Stadium is being replaced. Per LSUSports.net:

BATON ROUGE – LSU's spring football game on Saturday, April 18 will be played at A.W. Mumford Stadium on the campus of Southern University, LSU Athletic Director Scott Woodward announced on Tuesday.

"This is a win for this community overall," Woodward said. "Southern University has a terrific facility and we are grateful to athletic director Roman Banks and Coach Odums for hosting us. We're excited to play some football on the bluff in the spring."

LSU is having to play its spring game off campus due to resurfacing of the field in Tiger Stadium. Kickoff time and other details for the LSU spring football game at Southern will be announced in March.

LSU, the reigning national champions, opens spring practice on Saturday, March 7. LSU will host its annual coaches clinic featuring keynote speaker Marcus Allen on March 12-13.

Which is worse? While at LSU I was attacked by a gang. They threw large rocks at my car( while I was in it and shattered every window plus one hit me in the head- concussion and stitches) My niece at Southern was sexually assaulted at the school library . I sent my five children to UL.

We have a long way to go as a city, state, and country if people are this up in arms about a scrimmage. A lot of the players on that team you cheer for come from areas like the one that surrounds Southern. It’s not a good look to kids being recruited to see and read some of the things people are saying smdh

And those same players are working their asses off to GET OUT OF THOSE PLACES!

Used to live in Scotlandville and had the crap luck of going to school there. I'll take the ghetto around LSU any day over Scotlandville! Tiger Stadium may be close to the ghetto, but it isn't in it!

I actually think this is a great idea. Both schools have a ton of tradition. Great way to bridge the gap and come together. I’ll be there!

LOL... what do you think Mumford is? No one wants to travel to Scotlandville in North Baton Rouge to watch a spring game. It's just a dumb idea.

Why are you people hating? North Baton Rouge and the surrounding area has been home to some great Tigers. I mean only 10k of you all go anyway. What does this hurt? It enfranchised a part of Baton Rouge too often left behind.
