LSU running back coach Kevin Faulk will not be retained on Brian Kelly's new staff, according to Brody Miller with The Athletic.

Faulk, a native of Carencro, La., played for the Tigers from 1995-98 and is the school’s all-time leading rusher.

He served as LSU's Director of Player Development in 2018 and 2019 and was named running back coach for the last two seasons.

New coach Brian Kelly recently hired former LSU running back coach and recruiting coordinator Frank Wilson back to his staff in Baton Rouge so Wilson could be in play to coach the running back group now.

Faulk is a hero at LSU! But, our running backs were nonexistent in the 1st half of the season. I know he had a tragedy at home, but this is big time and performance has to happen. I am sure Kevin would be the 1st to say that!

He played in the league for 13 years. Pretty sure he was just coaching because he wanted to help out his alma mater.

I don’t give two shits who gets fired or hired as long as I can watch my Tigers play on Saturdays and give it their best and make it competitive that’s all I want and beat Alabama every year would be nice also

So you don’t give a shite about who gets hired or fired, but you want the players to play their best? That’s like saying you don’t care which woman marry but you want her to be the best wife.

This. Need to coach the RBs up - too much talent there

Wonder if this will lead to Cory Kiner entering the portal.

Could it also mean that Kiner will be a better running back?

Makes me sad but have to trust the guy to do the job he was hired to do. Faulk is in my top 5 favorite Tigers of all time.

I like Kevin Faulk. He is one of favorite RB’s at LSU. But clearly RB’s haven’t been up to LSU standards. Kinda figured this when Frank Wilson was hired plus Wilson is is one of the best recruiters in America. Didn’t he coach RB’s? I know he got some great ones at LSU among others.

It's not the RB's fault the O-line can't block.

Im sure CBK knows what he's doing but damn if Faulk doesn’t seem like an absolute gift to him & the program in recruiting Louisiana?

He’s not better than Wilson, nobody is. And RBs were just better under Wilson. Faulk is the person I credit the most for the turnaround of LSU football because he was the first big time recruit to stay home and help turn things around. But this move is not surprising. Thanks for all he’s done and wish him the best.

Bill Parcells said when taking the Dallas Cowboys HC position “there will be changes here. No doubt about that. It's not going to be status quo. . . . I know there are certain cards here on the table. There are some good cards, and some that have not been turned over." Change is often painful. These coaches will be successful in their future endeavors. But if BK gets to cook the meal he should be allowed to buy the groceries.

Parcels sucked in Dallas FWIW

Parcells did not suck in his turnaround of the Cowboys. His cleaning house turned a 5-11 team into a 10-6 team in his first year. He wasn’t great after that, but he was good in the turnaround/arrival season.
