Louisiana Lafayette's Billy Napier has been named the new head coach of the Florida Gators, replacing Dan Mullen who was fired two weeks ago.

Napier's name had surfaced numerous times over the last two months as a possible candidate to replace Ed Orgeron in Baton Rouge, but Ross Dellenger with Sports Illustrated tweeted Sunday that LSU never pursued Napier.

Lol. Lsu did pursue Napier. This “report” is just a cover for their failure.

LOL hilarious. Napier went all over Baton Rouge media to lobby for that job. LSU was having none of that. No interview. Didn’t want.

LSU should hire: Matt Campbell He's done a lot more, at the top level, with a ton less.

Some of you retards are stupid flakes. SW already has his man, and all your getting mad, saying he missed on this coach and that coach, cry, whine, pout. The coach he has lined up is the one he wanted all along. Deal with it. Think the baseball coach, no one and I mean no one expected Johnson.

Our fans? Yes. Scott Woodward? No. We have not even waited to see his results.

I'm not sure why so called tiger fans think Woodward has screwed up. The media has talked about all of these past and current coaches being "real" candidates, but he hasn't offered anyone yet. Looking at his history, he has made incredible hires for schools in the past that were right for that school at the time. Fisher, Kiffin, Tucker, Riley and the rest of the commonly reported candidates have not been offered. I don't think he's missed yet, he just hasn't swung, or at least it's not reported yet. Whoever it ends up being, there is sure to be plenty of critics, but I think he'll make a strong choice. Since we haven't heard today, my guess is his choice is playing for a conference championship this week and/or a CFP spot.

I don’t know how Napier works out, but Florida has a terrible recent history of picking head coaches.

There are how many P5 schools in Florida that he has to compete with for recruits? Only one P5 school in Louisiana.
