LSU sophomore cornerback Dwight McGlothern has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, according to Matt Zenitz with On3Sports.

McGlothern, a former four-star prospect from Houston, Texas, turned into a key starter for the Tigers this past season after losing Derek Stingley Jr. and Eli Ricks to injuries. His departure means that LSU will need to replace all starting cornerbacks from last season.

Does hurt, kid got alot of talent but when he knows he getting beat he tends to grab the wide receiver an aweful lot more then the others. He got alot of potential tho, just needs a good coach to coach him up. Hopefully he stays at lsu but if not ah well. Not crying over this guy. Flott, ricks and stingley were much better than this kid.

All the NCAA has to do is suspend NIL eligibility for 1 year after a transfer. All the BS stops immediately. These kids are jumping in the portal to shop for NIL deals. Without that, 90% of them are not in there. you might notice non of the bench warming walk ons are looking to transfer to gain a scholarship at a smaller school, this is almost all NIL related.

Good luck with that. Cows out of the barn and if the NCAA takes any steps to walk back earnings potential or transfer freedom, they will get hammered.

What makes you think the NCAA wants to stop it? It appears to be working exactly the way they set it up.

Why are all these LSU starters leaving? It must be for money. NCAA has got to do something about this. I would recommend putting the one year sit out rule back in.

We were late to the NIL game! Bottom line is sponsorships will keep the starters, 2nd string, and anyone else you want around. It’s all about the $$$, pretty much like anything else in life.

“NCAA has got to do something” bc LSU is losing some starters!! LOL. What makes you think the NCAA wants whats best for LSU?

What doesn't he see that's hopeful for the future of LSU or himself? To transfer because you've never seen the field and you want to play is one thing, but to hop from a starter is like jumping out of the lifeboat into a shark filled ocean. He'll have to rebuild the credibility he's built here hopefully. Maybe grades and/or immaturity.

Or maybe he doesnt really like the HC or the guy who will be his DB coach. This is no different than being in the real world where people stay in the same field but leave their current company bc they dont like the management.

There was no measurable drop off going from Ricks to McGlothern. He will play on Sundays. We do need to get up to full speed with NIL support. Next man up, though. LSU will always be LSU and having committed winners is essential to win. No one player define team. We gonna be alright!

New coach. New program. We’re going to be ok. It’s going to take some time. I’d be happy with 8-4 next year, 10-2 and then let’s get serious and make a run.

But the NCAA could decouple NIL and Transfer Portal with a 1 yr time out.

The NCAA dug their feet in for years and could have come up with a better model but thought they had all the power and could dictate all terms. I could see it 20 years ago when the kicked Jeremy Bloom to the curb for wanting to be in the olympics. They lost goodwill as years went by and the dam burst. It didn’t have to be this way but the NCAA would compromise at all.

There's more to this than accountability or grades or commitment. The influence of NIL is far greater than the vast majority of fans knows or wants to believe. The wide open pay to play practices without the representation of a quality agent, written contracts and the guidance of money hungry supporters of these inexperienced kids is like a free for all. It's much bigger than LSU. Every major program is dealing with it. Starters are doing it. Kids with existing NIL deals are doing it. UGA and Bama have players announcing today. Caleb Williams at OU, on and on. The NCAA, the conference commissioners, the legislators, they're all responsible for creating this mess and until they regulate it in some fashion, it will only get worse.
