Original: LSU sophomore defensive end Isaiah Washington is no longer with the football team, according to Ross Dellenger with The Advocate:

Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette confirmed the news to The Advocate but head coach Ed Orgeron declined to comment.

Washington, a former standout at Karr, missed the final few weeks of spring practice for academic reasons. He played six games in his LSU career, all of them coming late in his freshman season in 2015.

Washington missed last season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in his knee during preseason camp. He participated in his first practice since the injury during Day 1 of spring drills on March 11. During the first four spring practices, Washington was running behind Andre Anthony and Sci Martin at the buck position, a hybrid edge rushing spot normally occupied by Key.

Washington was a part of LSU's 2015 recruiting class which signed only one other defensive lineman in Arden Key and no linebackers.

Key is currently rehabbing a shoulder surgery and is expected to miss time during fall camp which starts on July 31st.

You should take seriously commenting on the mental capacity of an individual you have never met. It's completely reckless

Some people don't have the mental capacity to be part of a team. Nothing the staff can do. I wish Isaah good luck and hope he can make good decisions going forward. Next man up!

You don't take a jab at someone's mental capacity, then wish them luck in the same breath. You know nothing about what he's been through.

What a treasure of a response here. You should be ashamed of your stunning lack of ability to read and comprehend English. He didn't quit. He is off the team for academic reasons.
