Update: The search is over PAWL! LSU has hired Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly.

Paul Finebaum was on the ESPN College Football podcast with Matt Barrie on Sunday and suggested that Baylor coach Dave Aranda and Kentucky coach Mark Stoops are still in play for the LSU job. Per SDS:
quote:

“Scott Woodward is on the clock right now because he needs a coach, and he needs one within 24 hours,” Finebaum said Sunday on the ESPN podcast. “You can’t waste much time.

“You still hear Dave Aranda’s name, even though he’s reportedly getting a new deal, who isn’t getting a new deal, and beyond that I don’t know if there’s a surprise, because you don’t know if he can go back to someone who maybe we thought was off the board,” Finebaum said. “But I thought it was interesting … Mark Stoops’ name was out there as well, but with all due respect to Mark Stoops, I don’t think that’s the whale that we all gave Scott Woodward credit for reeling in.”
What are your thoughts on Aranda and Stoops?

Finebaum doesn’t know any coaches outside of his little area. Pathetic. Thought he would be the one guy spitting out names no one thought about.

Is Finebaum even relevant in the college football world anymore? Every quote I see from him is just recycled garbage from other reporters.

I doubt ESPN would pay an irrelevant guy 5 million a year.

Yes to Aranda and No to Stoops.

Aranda makes sense. They had to postpone the announcement when Okla St defeated OK, thus putting Baylor in the Big 12 championship game.

It’s Saban. Woodward waiting until after the SEC championship. If Bama loses and doesn’t make the playoff Saban is announced the next day. Coming back to BR where he won his 1st NC while dismantling the dynasty he just created and sticking it to the Gumps.

Finebaum is no more aware of what's going on than the typical TD poster. He's just filling air time with rank speculation.

We need an offensive head coach. If we bring in another defensive coach we will be right back where we started

Or, unlike last time, they hire a good OC and don’t tell them on day one: welcome to LSU, we’ve heard so much about your ingenious play/calling...here are 6 plays you have to choose from. Learn them.
