During a recent interview with Uninterrupted this week, former LSU and current New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. said that he hopes to be the highest paid player in the NFL.
quote:

“It’s like the elephant in the room, and you don’t want to talk about it but I’ve gotten to the point in my life where I’m like, ‘No, I’m going to. There’s no need to not talk about it,'” Beckham said.

“I believe that I will be hopefully not just the highest-paid receiver in the league, but the highest paid, period.”
Beckham is still playing on his rookie deal and will make $1.8 million in 2017. Many believe the former LSU star could soon land a deal that will approach a net value of $17.5 per season when he enters free agency after the 2018 season.

No Odell. You're a receiver not a quarterback or left tackle.

Get your money Odell... I'm sure plenty will come in here and tell you to just shut and play football!

I wouldn't want the highest paid player on a cap restricted NFL team to be a WR.

I'm surprised he hasn't held out for a restructure. There's no reason for someone with his value to be going in to his 4th year on that paltry contract.

I am probably wrong, but are there any rules placed in the NFL that require rookies to play out their first contract?

Someone will dump 15 mil on him. Have to put a "no boys trips during bye weeks" clause in that contract though

I know everyone will disagree with me, and I don't blame him for trying to get everything he can. But, to me, this guy is exactly what is wrong with sports. Constantly self promoting. Not worried about winning. Just hey, look at me! I was one of Odell's biggest fans at LSU. Now I cringe when I hear his name in the news. I guess it's just the world we now live in. Sad

There are roughly plays a game give or take 20. He may see the ball thrown his way roughy 3-7 times a game? He is 1/11th of the offense and 1/22 (not even counting special teams) of the starting players on his team, but has stated that he wants basketball player money. Basketball players play either offense or defense every play. Basketball players are 1/5th (minus players off the bench so roughly 1/8th) of their team. There is a reason that basketball players make substantially more per player than football. A basketball roster is 13 players, Football 53. It basic math. You can only cut up a pie in so many slices. The more slices, the smaller the pieces.
