During his weekly radio show on Thursday, Alabama head coach Nick Saban was asked about the time he played himself in the movie The Blind Side, which was about the recruitment of former Ole Miss offensive lineman Michael Oher.

Saban, who recruited Oher when he was the head coach at LSU, had to be convinced to do the movie and only did so as long as he wasn't wearing any LSU clothes. Per SECCountry.com:
quote:

“I did no acting in The Blind Side. It was not considered acting. They gave me a script, the director gave me a script. I didn’t want to be in the movie because I was the coach here (Alabama), and I was the coach at LSU in the movie so I thought the fans here would all get mad at me if I was the LSU coach in a movie.

“So I refused and Fred Smith, who was a pretty powerful guy with FedEx and all that, produced the movie and talked me into doing it. I told him I’d do it, but I’m not going to wear LSU clothes. He said ok.

He'd have broken down and cried thinking about how many more national championships he could have won with LSU's talent.

This is pretty good evidence that the Gumps can't decipher the difference between movies and reality.

They show him in his office with LSU gear everywhere. He says LSU to the recruit. He wore a yellow blazer.

What load of crap. Saban was just looking for an excuse to say he told Fred Smith how it was gonna be. Saban loves rubbing elbows with corporate big shots.

Sounds like Fred Smith told him what to do.

Can't blame him. I know Alabama fans who were not happy that he wore a gold tie at his first public appearance at an Alabama basketball game.
