Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports
NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein of NFL.com released an article last week ranking the top linebacker to watch out for in 2018 and sitting atop of the list was LSU's Devin White at No. 1.

Here's what he had to say about White in 2018.
quote:

1) Devin White, ILB, LSU

White follows in the footsteps of former Tigers Deion Jones and Kwon Alexander as a speedy playmaker with the ability to run and chase from sideline to sideline all game long. White's increase in playing time as a sophomore led to a huge spike in tackle production and impact plays. He has rare acceleration ability for a linebacker his size (6-1, 240, per school measurements) and mirrors running backs from gap to gap if they start bouncing it outside. White is a voracious student of the game and is always looking to improve. The areas where he needs the most improvement are tackle technique and consistency as a finisher.

When LB Devin White came out of HS he was one of the best athletes in the Nation. White was a top RB and LB but because we had RB's Leonard Fournette, Derrius Guice, Darrell Williams and Nick Brossette and we were very thin at the LB position he agreed to play LB, thank God. I really think what makes White such an great LB is he was such a great RB he knows what a RB is thinking what a RB wants to do where a RB wants to go he knows where a RB wants to go when the first hole is plugged that's why he's the best LB in the country. LB Devin White will be a first team All-American, winner of the Dick Butkus and the Chuck Bednarik Awards and be a top five draft pick in next years NFL Draft. Now I just wonder what our RB position would look like if we were thin at the position and he played RB and would he be a Heisman Trophy candidate how big, fast and physical he is he would probably be the leader for the Trophy.

I personally think he was a fantastic tackler as a 19 year old true sophomore. I mainly appreciated he respects himself and other opponents as the game has evolved to be a fierce tackler but not use his head to lead the tackle. I noticed this best as he approached QBs on a rush.

Dude couldn't even make a list for a position trophy finalist after last season... You're telling me they couldn't consider him for the Butkus or Maxwell when he's very obviously the best and most athletic sideline to sideline middle fielder in the nation? Frick the NCAA Awards committee. At least pro scouts know greatness when they see it. White finna get paid, bigly.

I know White played linebacker in High School, but Les switching him to full time LB was an amazing choice. I am glad he was receptive and willing, and cant wait to see the pay off to being the team player we needed when he gets drafted in the 1st round.

LSU has arguably the best LB and Cornerback on the nation. If this D line can develop depth and an attitude for punishing QBs this could be a top 5 national unit

White is GREAT. He makes a lot of arm tackles from behind and at shoulder level. I look forward to seeing him lay a lick on someone this season. Can’t wait.

Aranda with depth would be nasty. He hasn't had much of it since he has been here. Can you imagine him with the horses we had early in this decade?
