Myles Brennan Sends Out Thank You Message As He Steps Away From Football

LSU quarterback Myles Brennan made the decision to step away from football after five seasons with the Tigers and sent out this farewell message on Monday afternoon:

Tiger Nation,

Over the last five years, I have given all of my body, heart, and soul to LSU Football. Playing for LSU has been a dream come true. Wearing the purple and gold, running into Death Valley, winning a national championship, and starting at quarterback for the LSU Tigers -what more could a kid ask for? I will never forget the time I've spent and the memories I have made here.

To the players who have suited up alongside me; to the coaches who recruited, signed, and developed me; to the training staff who has cared for me; to the support staff who has provided everything I needed to compete at the highest level and continue my education; and to the fans who cheered for me every step of the way: thank you. I want to say thank you to the student body, the administration, and the entire LSU fan base for all your tremendous support over the last five years. I will never forget my time in Baton Rouge. I love LSU and all our fans.

I am forever grateful for every opportunity I've been given, every obstacle I've overcome, and every second I've been a Tiger. However, after five seasons, it is time for me to start a new chapter in my life. I am announcing today that I will be stepping away from football. I am thankful for where this journey has taken me so far, and I am looking forward to where it takes me next.

I am sure he has graduated. I am not sure how close of an hire to the Brennan family money. But, I think he will be alright. For whatever you guys think of him. He came back to the team after a terrible injury. For that I call him a winner.

There comes a time in every athlete's career (regardless of sport) where you realize; A) I am not as good as those guys - regardless of the level, or B) Father time has gotten the best of me. Call it retiring, hangin them up, whatever you want... but it's not quitting. Do you expect him to waste his time/life chasing something that will never happen? The guy poured everything into his time at LSU. He had plenty of opportunities to quit and go elsewhere or give up, but he didn't. He has simply come to a point in his career where he realizes, no matter how hard he tries or how hard he works, his ability has limits. There has never been an athlete who hasn't "hung em up" at some point.

People have dreams and goals. Sometimes reality shows them a specific dream or goal is unattainable. So, yes, they quit trying to achieve that goal and move on to another. A "quitter" is someone who gives up easily. Myles Brennan, in his 6th year of trying and competing, is not a "quitter".
