Fox Sports College Football analyst Joel Klatt was on Colin Cowherd's show this week and discussed Lane Kiffin's situation at Ole Miss.

As of now, Klatt sees Kiffin taking the Florida job and predicts a major mess if he in fact leaves Ole Miss during this playoff run.
quote:

“Here’s the thing: If he wanted to stay, he would stay, and we would have already known it,” Klatt told Colin Cowherd. “Look at all the other coaches around the country who have said they’re staying or signed extensions. And Ole Miss, I know, has told him money is not a factor here. Whatever you get offered, we will match it. So it’s not that he’s going to make more somewhere else, which is starting to lead me to believe — and again, I will fully own that I have been all over the map on this — but Lane is a unique cat.

“Now, I don’t know if he can come back to Ole Miss. You can’t lead them on for this long. There’s going to start to be animosity. Like, ‘Why aren’t you signing an extension? What’s the problem?’ I think he’s going to Florida — I really do. I think he’s going to Florida and I think he’s going to be the next coach of the Gators, and I think we’re going to have one of the biggest messes in college football history go down before the Playoff when Lane Kiffin steps away from a College Football Playoff team and goes to coach another team.”

Yes it would because if he said that, then it would confirm that he knows and has sources.

I thought you were perma banned? I see you're a man of your word. Quote I will self-ban if LSU beats Clemson. They have no chance with this O-line. This game will be embarrassing.Your words not mine.

Brian Kelly already set this precedent when he left Notre Dame just as they were to make a playoff birth.

Notre Dame wasn't going to make the playoff.

BK left Notre Dame because they were on the outside looking in.

Here's what I know. Joel Klatt saying Kiffin to LSU or Kiffin to Florida has about the same amount of weight. None of them have a clue what's going to happen. Also, frick cowherd! That guy sucked as much 10 years ago as he does today.

I find it laughable and unnerving when jackwagons like Cowherd, Stephen A, and Jason McIntyre act as if they know a lick about college football.

I’ve received quite a few calls about Kiffin and his group that visited BR. Still active as early as an hour ago. He’s obviously very interested in the LSU job.

If I'm Lane Kiffin, I tell the Ole Miss brass that I am committed to and focused on Ole Miss for the rest of the 2025 season. If LK isn't at OM for the playoffs run it should only be because the Ole Miss powers-that-be fired him.

The media really really really doesn’t want Lane at LSU.

Every coach does this, why is he getting crapped on for it

Didn’t he say last week that the bidding war would be between ole Miss and lsu and Florida wouldn’t get into it?

How much experience should one have as a sports reporter to know that this will create a big mess at Ole Miss if he leaves during a playoff run?
Also, Cowherd doesn't know shite!

He’s not going to Florida. This is a two team battle and LSU is winning. Lane will be announced to LSU before the weekend is over. Bank on it.

If I'm kiff, I'm asking for $150 million over 10 years guaranteed. Plus a budget for coaches and facilities that matches any other school dollar for dollar every year

And if I'm old miss I pay it. The alternative is absolutely cataclysmic to the entire program

I wonder if BK told Kiffin in that picture above, "I think you just took my job from me here at LSU."

Landy will make the call, and I'm not referring to the governor.

This would be great news for LSU. Hiring Kiffin would be another huge financial/program mistake.

What possible reason would compel Kiffin to choose Florida over LSU? Bigger stadium? Nope. Better facilities? Nope. Better recruiting base? Nope. Richer history? Nope. More money? Nope. Maybe family ties? Don't see a man making that kind of decision for family ties. Klatt is full of crap.

LSU will go after the best coach available. Why would Lane sign an extension if he wants a better job? Not to mention if he stays at OM he can leverage for better deal. Common sense.

This dude is rambling. He is coming to LSU. Knows nothing and is blabbering drama. If he was a UF lock, LSU wouldn’t be courting him. And everyone disregards the fact that his son was in BR for one of the games. His daughter dates a Tiger. Many LA ties.
