NFL Draft Analyst Mel Kiper Jr. recently unveiled his Too-Early 2017 Big Board and included LSU running back Leonard Fournette and safety Jamal Adams in his Top 5.

1. Myles Garrett, DE/OLB, Texas A&M Aggies
2. Tim Williams, OLB, Alabama Crimson Tide
3. Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU Tigers
4. Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson Tigers
5. Jamal Adams, S, LSU Tigers

3. Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU Tigers

Big, bruising, fast ... but let's keep an eye on the mileage. Fournette is a dynamic talent, that rare running back who generates excitement for teams drafting in Round 1. But he carried 300 times last season and is at 487 carries in two years. Will LSU use him up?

5. Jamal Adams, S, LSU Tigers

I had his dad, George, in the 1985 draft guide, and Jamal might be even better. He was the top safety in the country as a high school senior and has continued to dominate at LSU. He plays with tenacity and aggressiveness. He can cover, attack the line and has good ball skills.
Kiper's full 2017 big board on ESPN Insider is pay-protected and can be seen here.

Robinson? Dudes been starting at left tackle since freshman year. He is a 10 year franchise player but not in top 5, okay?

It's Kiper's opinion and God forbid a Bama player be ahead of an L5U player. It's gonna be a shame when it goes to L6U. It just doesn't have the same look and feel. Oh well.

Is it sad LSU was in the running for 3-5, possibly 4-5 to play here?

Kiper's list does not matter! Cam Robinson & Christian McCaffrey will both be picked before Tim Williams & Deshaun Watson.

BS Tim Williams has been good but he ain't close to Myles Garrett or LF

Tim Williams is nothing but a 3rd down specialist at this point. The NFL loves to overrate these types that have nothing else to their game. He should improve, but I doubt it's enough to be a legit top 10 player.

Tim Williams was a rotational guy last season because that Dline was stacked. He's a sack expert and every NFL team needs that. So apparently he is...

Go ahead and waste a top 10 pick on a guy that does nothing but rush the passer. That's a surefire way to have a bust. Again, if he does improve, then it's a different story, but his rankings right now make zero sense. I saw some fool compare him to Khalil Mack, ummm, WTF?

@ThreauxDown11 - his workload was greatly increased this past season and he even played 1 game less than every other starting RB in the country. It's the same argument LSU fans make against Bama RBs getting overused. You think it's a dumb argument when it's against L.F. but a good argument against Derrick Henry? Dumb.

Henry ran almost 400 times last year. That's beyond ridiculous. He had 146 carries the last 4 games. That's damn near a full season worth of carries for the average starting RB.

LF had 300 carries, I believe, and he split time and was a Soph. This was Henry's last year and they knew he was gonna get 95% of the carries. LF will get 95% of the carries this season and also get close or equal the same amount of carries for LSU this season.

Factor in that LF had 1 less game and Derrick Henry had 3 more games than LF. Gotta factor in actual facts.

Coached Tim Williams at U-High. Dude had talent, but I never believed he could be this good.

487 carries over two years is not that much. Wtf. what an idiot. That's less than 20 carries a game Which a stud like Fournette should be expected to carry at least 23-24 times a game.
