Since LSU's season-opening loss to USC, Brian Kelly's postgame comments, in which he said, 'Miller Moss outplayed Garrett Nussmeier,' have been a big topic of discussion.

For context, here's what Kelly said, word for word:
quote:

“They’ve got some good athletes. I thought the quarterback played well tonight,” Kelly said Sunday night. “He outplayed our quarterback. He made the plays when he needed to.”
During the latest episode of The Triple Option, Mark Ingram was very critical of Kelly's comments directed towards his QB. Per On3:
quote:

"That’s not throwing him under the bus, that’s throwing him under the 18 wheeler semi,” Ingram said on The Triple Option. “Your player just went out there and played his tail off. You said it. Nine incompletions, 300 yards, two touchdowns. He didn’t throw an interception until the last pass of the game, which the game was over, and you go out here and you throw your player, your starting quarterback, under the bus? You should be encouraging these guys.

“This is the first game of the season. We talked about the 12 team expansion, the season isn’t over. You should be encouraging your teammates, encouraging your players, bringing your players together, instead of throwing your starting quarterback under the bus. That is unacceptable and unheard of. And quite frankly, I know for a fact (Kelly) probably wants that back.”
On Tuesday, local reporters asked Kelly about his comments after the game. Kelly made it clear he was not disparaging Nussmeier but gave the nod to Moss since the Trojans won the game.

2nd half play calling had more to do with the loss than Nuss not playing good enough. Guess Lacy's penalty lost the game since he wasn't seen much in 2nd half...

BK is right. Nuss didn’t win the game. Burrow is a legend because he put up numbers AND won. Nuss got beat. End of story.

Nuss had a very good game and will have a very good season. He was outplayed in the 4th, he whiffed on a TD pass to Anderson with under 2 minutes to go. But he will be very good this season. Ingram is disingenuous. All he cares about is negatively recruiting against LSU.

Just maybe, Kelly was out coached more it seems.

Nuss did a darn good job! Moss is not better than him. He was better prepared to get rid of the ball under pressure. He had better practices under the guidance of a good offensive minded coach. Aa coach knows his players. Maybe Nuss needed to hear that to take his play to another level. In the red zone, we have to pinch the ball in with good play calling and execution.

Nuss didn't come through when it mattered. He would probably admit he was outplayed. Kelly still shouldn't have said it.

Kelly said that's not what he said.

Kelly 100% wants those comments back.
They obviously believe in Nuss and he played one hell of a game. I think Kelly was very heated after suffering an avoidable loss and said something that he wishes he worded better/didn’t say. We’ve all been there but damn, that’s a bad look.

Kelly sure got outcoached Lincoln Riley.

He said as much. Nuss probably would echo Kelly as well. He had a good game, but was outperformed by his opposite number. Use it as motivation and get better.

What a stupid comment by Ingram, he is trying to make something out of nothing. Nuss missed several opportunities and was not standing in the pocket or scrambling to pick up yardage, he looked like he is afraid of contact.

HE DID NOT THROW HIM UNDER THE BUSS BY STATING A FACT. Moss outplayed him. Moss was under constant pressure - much more than NUSS and stood there and hung in it to make longer passes instead of dumping it off short all the second half. Yes there were completions but Bo Nix did the same shite last season and LsU fans were all over that.

He did get outplayed, plain and simple, that's reality. It's how he reacts is what's important. Of course against a cream puff team is not going to tell us anything. Maybe against South Carolina away will tell us a lot.

O one more thing, Mark Ingram can piss off you Bama homer.

Moss was better because the coaches trusted him to make the throws when it mattered. The fact that ours didn't do the same for Nuss is more telling than the post-game comment.

The coaches trusted Nuss with a 4 yard pass he couldn't make.

You think Garrett doesn’t think that he got out played? I guarantee you no one thinks that more than he does. I highly doubt that CBK hurt his feelings.

Well, unlike some of the posters in this thread, Nuss isn’t a bitch.

I don't see a problem with CBK's comment

No one cares about a Gump whose career with him costing his team a playoff spot because he was afraid of contact.

People are too soft. If you watch the game he was the better QB. Nuss was good but that kid made huge throws under pressure and Nuss got happy feet in some crucial situations. It's ok. He'll get better
