Syracuse kicker Andre Szmyt was named the winner of the 2018 Lou Groza Award at the College Football Award Show on Thursday night, beating out LSU senior placekicker Cole Tracy for the honor.

Wyoming's Cooper Rothe was also a finalist for the award.

Tracy, a transfer from Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts, made 25 of 29 field goals this season and knocked in all 28 extra-points he attempted. He would have been the first Tiger to win the award.

The TAM game with the Auburn game alone should have been enough. Every kick was win or go home a loser. He made all of them. Has to be about more than stats. What about all of the pressure kicks he made? Cole Tracy is LSU Forever. Always a Tiger.

Still part of LSU folklore forever. An inspirational kid from Nowheresville College who won over each and every LSU fan . My hat is off to Cole. Mad Respek.

His celebrity status in Baton Rouge got him more pussy the 2 weeks following the Auburn game than those other kickers will get in a lifetime

Szmyt,a redshirt freshman started the year as a walk-on, made 28 of 32 field goals attempts; he also knocked down 57 PATs. I think he earned the Groza Award?
