LSU junior wide receiver Devonta Lee has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, according to multiple sources.

Lee becomes the fifth LSU receiver to enter the portal, joining Koy Moore, Deion Smith, Trey Palmer (Nebraska), and Alex Adams (Akron).

The Fluker, La. native was a four-star prospect in the class of 2018 coming out of Amite HS.

He appeared in 13 games during the 2019 season, catching two passes for 27 yards. He played in eight games in 2020 but did not record any stats. This past season, Lee had nine receptions for 85 yards and 1 touchdown.

I think it is always disappointing when a player's aspirations don't work out. But if they can better themselves at another school and possibly improve their lot in life, then we should all be supportive. Most of these players are not trying to get NIL deals or hustle money. They simply want playing time and access to their field of dreams. Good Luck in the future Devonta!

If we were eating lunch with these kids and talking to them like friends, we'd quickly see they're just like us- they have hopes and dreams and want them to come true. So let's support their dreams and the dreams of the ones that are coming here for the same reason. They're not the problem. They're solving one.

And we can't discount the fact that sometimes these kids are told that they don't really fit into the direction that the new regime is headed. The transfer portal offers them an opportunity to find a new home. I don't see a problem with that.

Yall need to relax, Lee was not much of a contributor and wasnt about to be next year either. He is going somewhere he can play. We will fill his spot with someone from the portal who will help this team, if anything this helps LSU and Lee.

Damn. Good kid from a good family. I hope he does well where ever he lands.

Honestly, frick college football at this point. It was fun when these players played for the school colors but now it’s such a free for all that it seems pointless to get attached to any of these kids when they’re so gd fickle. NIL+transfer portal opened Pandora’s box and it has had the worst possible effect on the sport.

Cry me a d@mn river... The guy has been here for 3 years, hasn't gotten much playing time, and has changed positions multiple times. Let him do what's best for him at this point.

Both of you can be right.

I think you are romanticizing why players from 10, 20 or 50 years ago. You don't know if those guys would not be doing the same thing if put into the same situation these kids have today.

Jack Bech counts as 2 people, so I'm cool with the current roster

so we are bitching about a guy leaving who caught nine passes for 85 yards and 1 touchdown?? 11 passes for his career if you include 2019. This is not a huge loss. He can go somewhere where he can play and gives LSU a spot open to fill with someone else. Some of you need to chill out

He put in his time at different positions and wants to play somewhere. Only has one chance in his life to play the game so I don't blame him.

Really like Devonta and can't blame him for leaving. Guy loves this school, but has talent and hasn't been able to get on the field much with this team.

all these WRs leaving is just bizarre

Right!!! I was wondering the same thing...The depth chart can’t look more favorable. Is Kelly cleaning house, or are these guys leaving the new coach to be with a new coach...odd at best!!!

Maybe we need to find a receivers coach to bond with these guys. Too late now.

Had he just committed to safety he’d be in the league by now

He only caught 2 more career passes than I did.

You had 9 receptions at LSU?

I’ll take those 7 guys plus the portal…let’s ride!

Teams may as well just have a period to trade players. It’s a joke.

I've also liked Lee and really thought he'd be special here. Fact is, he's barely gotten on the field. I wish it had worked out better for everyone, but I wish him the best for being a Tiger.
