LSU quarterback commit Myles Brennan spoke with the media after the Under Armour All-America Game on Jan 1. and said that he would be open to redshirting his freshman season.

The four-star pocket passer from Bay Saint Louis, MS says he wouldn't mind spending his first year in Baton Rouge "getting bigger, better, and learning the system." Per NOLA.com:
quote:

The 6-foot-4, 183-pound Brennan also added that he is open to redshirting next season if that's the plan Ed Orgeron and Matt Canada have for him.

"It really hasn't been mentioned to me because of all the stuff that's been going on. When I was with Coach (Cam) Cameron and Coach (Les) Miles it was brought up, but I haven't talked to Coach Canada or Coach Orgeron about what their plan is for me next year. I was just putting that out there to let people know I'm not going to leave LSU if I have to redshirt. ... I don't mind getting in there getting bigger, better, learning the system and just competing."

Danny Boy takes a well-deserved senior season while young Mr. Brennan learns the ropes. Clearly.

That's 100% the correct mentality, Myles. Spring Practice with the Tiger D will provide you and Lowell with more exposure to the speed of the game. Bigger, stronger, faster - yes, and keep up the great attitude. Soak up the campus vibe, get your bearings, and have fun!

Brennan may not be the highest ranked QB coming out of high school this year, but don't be surprised in 4 years if he's the one that ended up being the best. Kid has EVERYTHING needed to be great. Canada is going to make him a star.

I used to follow LSU recruiting pretty hard. Actually went watch guys like Mcknight (RIP) in high school for the sake of hoping to see him and others in purple & gold. I've seen my good share of flops. Gotta say, this guy just looks and feels like he'll piss excellence and $hit TD passes. I've got a damn good feeling about this one. Gotta say

from what i saw in the guy all season, at practice for UA, at the UA game. he will light it up for the tigers but i do agree he does need to add some lbs. wouldnt want him getting killed out there like that freshman qb at georgia. that guy was getting nailed all season his freshman yr this yr

Good point, but Georgia's oline doesn't hold a candle to LSUs.

He might be willing to redshirt, but don't be surprised if he is the starter opening day. Regardless, whenever he plays, he will make our passing game a legitimate threat.

Ignorant statement that shows you don't know a squat about playing QB in college level, let along SEC west.

Absolutely positively what he needs to do. Too many kids start before they're ready and ruin their careers. Going from HS to big time SEC football is a huge step. A year in the system and Myles could break all the passing records at LSU! Great attitude Myles! Success is at your door!
