LSU Players Continue To Support Brandon Harris: 'We Got His Back'

After tough season-opening loss to Wisconsin last week that included offensive struggles and shaky quarterback play, the LSU players continue to support Brandon Harris.

Seniors Travin Dural and Ethan Pocic made it clear that the team has Harris' back no matter what. Per NOLA.com:

"I told him we got his back no matter what," Dural said Tuesday as the Tigers prepare for Saturday's home opener against Jacksonville State. "He's our quarterback, the guy we're running with, and we have to help him out more as receivers. We're going to help him more next week. That's never going to happen again."

"Brandon in the locker room, he thought it was all on him, but it's the offense, defense, and special teams," center Ethan Pocic said. "So many things play into it. I told him, the O-line has got to give him more time."

Said Dural: "Everybody took it hard, but especially him being that he puts so much pressure on himself and he wants to perform at his best. He's fixing it. He's having a great week of practice, being positive doing all the right things."

Harris will look to bounce back from a rocky start last week when the Tigers play Jacksonville State this Saturday at 6:30pm CT in Tiger Stadium.

I'm behind Harris. I supported him last year, when everyone wanted to lynch him after the Bama loss. I still support him, but that pick at the end of the game was on him. Those are the situations that separate game changers from game managers. He got away from the pressure and just heaved it up. Yeah, guys dropped balls, but alot of his early throws had no accuracy at all. Lousy play calling had alot to do with it too, but Harris has to do more with his opportunities. He has to be a lot smarter with the football. I still support him and I truly believe he gives us the best shot at winning, but he gotta play smart and consistent.

Theoretically, LSU can still make the playoffs. But there is no longer any room for error. If we go undefeated from here on out, and win the SEC championship, we're in. Because the SEC champ will always be in the playoffs. Bama is the only SEC team that can get in without the SEC title. That's a fact. But if we win the Championship, with a win over Bama under our belt, we'll be in. I'm sorry, I hate Les but I love LSU and I can't give up hope in them.

Its easy to say they will play better this week. They play Jacksonville St. Id be totally blown away if they don't play better. The problem will still exist. Until he learns how to slow the game down and think under pressure he is going to keep choking. He over throws open receivers far too much. Under throws em. Throws to the wrong ones. He just doesn't manage the game like a Junior QB should. He has had plenty of time to figure it out. I'm tired of wasting my time waiting on this kid to finally get it, that he is the QB of a Major College football team that is regarded as one of the most talented in the country. The rest of the team can have his back, but they are kidding themselves.

Don't get me wrong its not only him. I hold the HC and that horrible OC responsible too. I really liked the kid coming out of high school. But when I see Freshmen QBs on other teams start for the first time and manage a game way better than he does, I just lose confidence. And I feel bad for him. I really do

We ALL should have his back. If yall think that loss is on the QB and not on multiple coaches(HC, Offense, Special teams) then thats on YOU.

Of course on the players too. And yes, his last pass wasn't good, but he shouldnt have to win a game that our coaches underprepared for.

Miles says Harris will be OK if he stays within the scheme. WRONG! The scheme needs to change. Why recruit a dual threat QB if all he does is drop back and throw inaccurate passes? Did anyone see a QB draw or option play where Harris could run with the ball or pitch to Fournette? Harris is a far better runner than he is a passer. I have been a steadfast supporter of Miles but I'm done. He must go!

Good. They should, and so do I. It took me going through the "put the back-up QB in!" twice before I realized its not at all going to make a difference.

This is Les offense we are talking about, I expect a win but much closer than we'd like it to be. We had some non SEC teams last year that played us competitively late into the 2nd half before victory was assured. Based on the ineptness from last week I expect us to continue to struggle offensively. Sad.

Well, it isn't a question of them "having his back". It is a question of winning or losing. The coaches have to make a decision which is for the team, the program, and their jobs. I certainly wouldn't pin my hopes on Brandon Harris. Harris has failed at every opportunity given to him and the other QBs deserve an chance. The LSU team deserves a QB who can complete a 10 yard crossing patern or slant. Brandon Harris has already proven that he can't perform under pressure. He is weak minded and cracks under pressure. He has done this repeatedly. I am tiredof seeing Harris crying on the sidelines. Let someone else play.

Harris is not the answer. It is more than kind of his teammates to stand up for him but it's equally meaningless. The kid is not a winner. It is well past time to give someone else a chance.

Sorry jdrn21 or should I say mr or Mrs Harris. It's ok to admit that your son is not an SEC QB. No shame. Let's just hope he has put his NFL aspirations behind him and he's concentrating on getting a degree so he can get job when he gets out.
