It wasn't pretty but LSU figured out how to beat Syracuse 35-26 in Tiger Stadium Saturday night with help from both quarterbacks Danny Etling and true freshman Myles Brennan.

Running back Darrel Williams led the Tigers with 16 carries, for 92 yards, and one touchdown. Per LSUSports.net:

LSU (3-1) had 263 yards passing and 151 yards rushing for a combined 414 yards of total offense.

Darrel Williams tied his season-high with 92 yards rushing and hit the 1,000-yard career mark on his second carry of the game early in the second quarter. He scored his fifth rushing touchdown of the season with 5:22 left in the 3rd quarter to give the Tigers a 28-10 lead. He finished the evening with 142 all-purpose yards.

Looks like we will be lucky to get an invitation to the Grantland Rice Bowl, playing the Northeast South Carolina State Teacher's College.

Is there ANY way Ed can be placed in a FEMA Camp until he can be deported to his native Lafourche Parish?

Season starts in Gainesville. A win could be huge in the Tigers going 2-1 in October SEC. ain't no way they sneak one from Bama unless the flu sets in on Tide. They must get healthy and continue to not show their playbook

Didn't Ole Miss fire this Turkey? So why did the dim-witts at LSU hire him?

Fire the so-called "Athletic Director" and the former Line Coach. We want from the Frying Pan to the Fire replacing Miles with this Turkey.

Are there any Pop Warner / Pee-Wee League coaches who could replace our former Line Coach?

I just think the defense is doing too much. We started out last year doing some of the same things but then they all started to trust one another and got much better as the year went on. No we wasn't THIS bad but we weren't this young and inexperienced either. We had 3 and 4 year starters last year with some talented freshman. We have to kill it this year in recruiting the OL and DL along with adding depth in the backfield and at MLB. I think we need another big run stopping backer to play with White. Our WRs just need experience but we need to add some guys this year as I think we are doing. We'll be fine there. Need another QB IMO. I would go all out on the OL and DL this year in recruiting. Get 2 of Marshall, Chase, Keys or Jason. Get 1 QB. Get 3 more OL. Get Surtain. And get 2 or 3 more DL. 1 NT and (2) DEs. Maybe drop that TE we have. Make room some way.

And hopefully Shelvin will be eligible next year. We're not that far off!

They will be winless in SEC play and lucky to get a bowl game. This team is awful. No way to slice it. Serious problems on both sides of the ball and I think Aranda is working with everything he has with depth issues. I couldn't imagine how bad this defense would be with Steele.

I don't think this win or a win over Troy is going to make anyone forget the MSU debacle

Syracuse must have been a top ten team. No unranked non conference opponent comes into tiger stadium and plays LSU like that.

First off, penalties were not an issue, so corrections were made. Second, the receiver group played much better and Drake Davis is an exceptional blocker downfield. Third, Etling is very accurate when given time and his deep ball TD's were on the money! Fourth, the o-line is clearly the weak link and terribly miss Maea Teuheama. The good news is they got better in the second half. They must gel as a unit or Etling will be killed back there! Brennan got some valuable reps, but also threw an interception which led to a score, and almost threw a pick six that was dropped. This is why everyone plays non conference games like this. Player reps and evaluations. Miles will be able to study film and see what not to do in the future. He is very talented and will be our qb next year and beyond. He will be ready. The defense played well, despite being on the field most of the game. Greedy Williams is a star in the making! Key definitely needs to get back into game shape. As for the missed tackles, that Syracuse qb must have had Vasoline on, as he looked like Houdini time after time. Even though our d-linemen were using proper technique and trying to wrap him up below the waist. The guy was just amazing, as advertised. The whole team had a great game plan to tire out our defense and it almost worked. That said, the Tigers weathered the storm and got the win! A lot of positives to build on! BTW, Cameron Gamble had every kickoff go into or through the end zone! Great job!

I didn't see any "escape" by LSU. I saw a team that never trailed. I saw a team that felt the had the game in hand enough in the third quarter to put the backup QB in. I also saw a team who, when the lead was cut to two, subsequently marched down the field and put the game away. Florida escaped today. Penn State escaped today. Clemson escaped today (don't let the garbage TDS fool you). LSU didn't look like a world beater, but they controlled the entire game and won.

lol, LSU played Syracuse dude. You idiots were wrong about BYU, wrong about Miss St, and now you're talking about a team that played Iowa and Kentucky? In case you haven't realized, Kentucky and Iowa would beat Syracuse. Kinda funny you consider scoring 27 points in a 7-7 game in the fourth as "escaping". LSU was up 28-19 going into the fourth, and it was 28-26 with 5 minutes to go. Stop the bull shite.

You see flashes with this team which tells me that we just don't have the boys together as a team yet. The coaches will have to do a better job all around. That punter was killing us. And Canada you can't go PA on first down 2 drives in a row, teams are smarter than that. You also can't do the same things on first down and 3rd down. I liked what we did right before the half and how the OL performed on the first drive with Brennan as well as the last drive. If the LSU offense can perform throughout an entire game the way they did on those 3 drives we will be very good on offense. The defense is just young AF. Too many missed tackles, guys slipping through our fingers, they have to teach these guys how to attack in the open field. We overreact on some plays and then we also don't react fast enough on others. Need a good mix of the two. Cuse hit the same damn fake 3 times. I saw it coming after the first one so these guys need to play with more awareness on the field. I know things are moving fast but you have to do your job instead of trying to go out of the scheme to make plays. That is why this defense was so damn good last year bc they did their jobs. Just do your damn jobs.

He reminded me of Mahommes from Texas Tech. He had good numbers against us, too. But we won the game!

If FSU is still in the top 25, it only confirms how bias the polls really are!!!!!!

Not easy to sit in that stadium and watch this. I'm there, but man they are major issues with the o line, our secondary and pretty everything else.

That extra weight is not helping Key on the football field. No quickness or explosiveness. The weight went straight to his stomach. How is that suppose to help him? Getting fat has never helped an athlete.
