This generation of quitters is astounding. Self-care is getting confused with self-fish

Wish he would have stayed to play in the game, but it's actually his decision.

It’s certainly his prerogative and this bowl game is arguably meaningless, but the bigger issue with this kind of thing is leaving your teammates in a lurch and what that ultimately says about one’s character. But there certainly doesn’t seem to be a premium put on character in the NFL…

Let him go. I want to see the kids play who are hungry to start next season.

"Bowl game is meaningless", so is every other game at LSU and most P5's the minute you get two losses. Why not quit then instead of now?

@CDawson
Because playing a full season improves your chances of going to the NFL

We are getting to the point where evey bowl outside of the playoff is meaningless. Players are opting out all over the country. Why even have those bowl games?

It’s a unique situation…LSU is a among a few schools that if you can play here you have a great chance to become a true NFL prospect so we see these decisions for career more often then other schools. Most programs done have a single future Nfler on the roster and they know it and play for the love of the game. Different situations when you talk central Michigan, Nevada, Illinois vs LSU, Bama, Florida etc. business decisions unfortunately have to be made. Selfishly I want to see them play… but to each is his own.

This started off as only the high draft choices opting out. I see anybody is opting out nowadays ???????

Say what you want about farrell but opting out of a meaningless bowl doesnt bother me. The kid stayed when a lot of other guys quit on the team during the season. He is a d-lineman and is getting ready to play in the senior bowl where there will be tons of NFL scouts. Had he not made the senior bowl then maybe more of an issue but i understand this decision compared to the Ricks of the world and a few of the other former tigers.

Opting out and finally getting in on the 5th round would still be a dream come true. Contracts are negotiated and big money awaits those with patience. Play 8 years and never have to work again. Neil made the right decision.

He’s an LSU kid so I support his decision. What many of these players forget to realize is that roughly 2% of them will make it to the NFL. Every year we see these kids opt and skip thinking that long NFL career awaits them. Most of the time it doesn’t. Get your education. It cost you nothing.

Are you implying that most kids that opt out don't go to the NFL...? Because I am pretty sure every kid that has opted out of a bowl has at least made it to the NFL and a majority get drafted.
