LSU head coach Ed Orgeron announced Wednesday that outside linebacker/defensive end Arden Key will take some time away from football for personal reasons.

Here is Orgeron's statement from LSUSports.net:
quote:

“In consultation with our staff and his family, Arden Key has decided to take some time away from football for personal reasons. We fully support Arden in his decision and look forward to welcoming him back home to the Tiger family at the appropriate time.”

Orgeron and Key will have no further comment on the matter. Orgeron asked that fans and members of the media respect the privacy of Key as this is a personal matter.

Yeah for all the people on various social media platforms saying that this is a huge loss for the Tigers and speculating that he's gonna quit football for good; these people are idiots. I don't know Arden Key personally, but I do know that he is 100% committed to LSU and I know that regardless of how severe his personal problems are, Arden will re-join the team (hoepfully before the Spring Game). With that being said, I hope all is well with Arden and his family but like I said, there's no way in hell he doesn't suit up against BYU.

This reminds me of Pig Howard at Tennessee. It's strange, but I wish him the best and hope he returns sooner than later.

There are things that are more important than football. This is a man-sized decision, that I am sure was difficult and painful to make. I hope he has a positive outcome to whatever the issue is.

Man, you must crave attention. Why else would a bonehead like you post a definitive statement about a guy you don't really know? Please provide just an ounce of proof.

1st rd. NFL money will cure whatever ails him. No one would turn that down. A death in the family would be public record, so it isn't that. Not my business anyway. Good luck, prayers, and best wishes, Arden! See you in September!

I wonder if this has anything to do with that game he missed... I don't know what's wrong with him and pray it's nothing serious and pray for the young man he is and man he will become. As someone who battled demons in life when I was younger, put your full commitment towards that (or his issue) and worry about football last right now. Just remember, whatever it is can be overcome and you'll have plenty of support, but you just have to ask, which is sometimes difficult for prideful people. Good luck Arden, prayers to you and your family.

Hope he gets through whatever it is he has going on. I'm sure it is a high priority matter if he is taking time away from football to address it. I'm fine with him missing the spring game. He knows the defense inside and out so I don't foresee any drop off in production if he comes back for the season opener. Get whatever it is you need taken care of Arden and know the all of Tiger Nation loves and supports you always. Tiger forever!

It's called social media Whynotme. We can't fart these days without everyone knowing about it. These things were always there in the past. We just didn't have instant access to it. Every team has their share of drama. This is nothing to worry about.

One of my favorite college players. Hope things work out for him and his family. I wanted him at Auburn. Love the way he plays the game.
