LSU coach Ed Orgeron revealed Monday that LSU six-year senior defensive end and team leader Andre Anthony is out for the remainder of the year after suffering a season-ending injury vs. Central Michigan on Saturday.

Orgeron did not disclose the nature of the injury.

Freshman Maason Smith will replace Anthony at defensive end, Orgeron said.

He will be one of those players that is s much better pro than he was in college. He was just starting to show what he can do. He’s a true 4-3 right defensive end in the NFL who can hold up against the run while also rush the passer. I hope he still gets drafted. Hate it for the guy he was a true tiger all the way.

Glad he got a TD before it happened.

He went from the high of his TD to the injury all in one game. Crazy how fast things can change. Get better big guy and good luck at the next level!

That sucks feel so bad for him. Put in his time and did what he had to do. was probably going to be 1st team all SEC. His luck here has been bad since day one.

I wonder if he can apply for a medical hardship and get a 7th year of eligibility?

I know he is a senior but can he get a medical redshirt?
user avatar

He’s going to be 25 in November. Even if he were to get a medical redshirt he shouldn’t take it. He’s got to go pro.

If he sticks around any longer he could get a Masters or PHD.

The way he was walking on his knee after the injury reminded me of the way K'lavon Chaisson was walking after he tore his ACL in the Miami game. Hence, I'm guessing it's an ACL tear.
